Are those good dedi specs?

I'm currently thinking of buying a dedi yet I have no clue which one to choose.
My question:

Are these specs good for running a Mc server? And how many players can it handle?

I knew someone who used that server and they had 40 players on, as their network grew they moved to us and now they have 240 players on.

I'm not an expert in this area but the i5-2300 has a relatively low passmark score, only 5292. That means you won't get a lot of performance out of it. 16 GBs of RAM is decent for a server with ~100 players. The internet bandwidth is somewhat slow, but decent; I doubt you'll have many problems.

This is certainly better than a VPS however!

Like I said I'm not an expert, but as far as the server isn't too intensive (you pregenerate the world, you don't have a ton of worlds or plugins, the right Java arguments, etc.) I *believe* you should be fine at 100.

A Xeon would be better but it's also more expensive.

Im running 10 close friend servers on a machine exactly to that. About 200 players on the max. However runs fine with me! Get Kimsufi!

I am not a fan of using desktop grade hardware for a 24/7 load server. I have used i3 - i7 for servers some have been good and some have been flops. It is your choice. Personally I would try to get at least a Xeon E3.

Problem is that they are restocking those and are usually out of stock really fast. So I was wondering if this was a good alternative. All those inputs are so diffrent.
