Let us be real.

Are server websites really needed now adays. Discord's allow for people to connect easier than ever. You can link all voting sites there and get bots to do whatever you need.
I've been debated whether or not I need a website for my server...
But with Buycraft, Discord and Server... it seems I'd have everything I need.
A website would just be a waste of money and space.

So.
What are your opinions on server websites now adays, are your forums used anymore.
Do people really go on it and look at it.

Thanks :)

In my opinion having an active forum website is worth a lot more than a Discord server.
Discord servers tend to die down very quickly, and no valuable content produced on Discord is of any use when the Discord is dead. If you have placed all of the valuable content on a forum, the good content is likely ranking in Google and you would have some real value there.
You are right in terms of SEO and server outreach...
However, Discord's are just more popular for announcements and since players are able to connect with the owners easier (private messaging for when you are offline)....
honestly it is hard to get a server website popular when you have discord UNLESS you limit your discord

Personally, I believe a Discord server is a good option if you're on a budget or don't want to over spend on your server. It's all a matter of preference, to the players it doesn't really matter. Heck, you can have both as players like to interact when either on the server or off it. The website will just be used for applying for staff etc. Discord covers the majority of the stuff a website provides if you do choose to go with that option, but eh it's your call buddy. Personally I believe Discord is fine, anyways have yourself a nice day/night.

I have both for my server, it keeps reports and stuff like that separate, basically anything like staff apps, reports, bugs and stuff are done on my website, everything else is on discord.

A discord server can also have all those features through using a Discord bot though.
Just having ticketing systems allows for everything to maintain separately.

Doesn't solely mean he should. I'm not sure how to describe it but I feel like having everything on a discord server would be hell, especially when you grow. Maybe I'm just saying this cause I design websites and won't make money if everyone switched , but really it's a sense of organization. You'll get tired of the amount of channels you have to go through just to clear up things. If you like it how it is now, don't change and keep to it. You're comfortable with your discord being your main "website" while other people are comfortable with having both. There's no good argument against it as you make a good point but to me, it's all opinionated.

You raise a good point. It is much easier to collect it onto a website.

I believe that it depends from server owner to server owner, if I had a server I would personally prefer a forum as I find it more professional and easier to categorize/organize stuff like reports, appeals and so on. While discord has the benefit of direct communication between users, it doesn't offer the same feeling that a forum does, nor can you customize it as much as a website.

Concluding, I'd use discord servers for smaller communities and forums for medium/big sized networks.
