Are you able to be sued over a minecraft server?

I think you misunderstood me. When i said ip i didn't mean their domain. I meant their intellectual property.

Oh, Sorry, my bad then.

Thought you said something like 'if they use their IP address', and i was like 'what the fuck?'.

So recently a server called FakePlex was created copying mineplex. Now they closed the server due to receiveing threats from mineplex over being sued. Now I am wondering if anyone here actually knows if this is possible? Thanks.

Unless the creators of FakePlex were using the property of MinePlex they can not sue, unless they had a trademark on anything containing 'plex' (which I would doubt but is possible).
