This is Arson Factions not ArsonPVP. It is like me getting in trouble by Fanta by naming my new drink Fantasy. I have the same first 5 letters, but the second two are different. Also, the Creative Commons 4.0 states the following:
  • Adapt — remix, transform, and build upon the material
  • for any purpose, even commercially.
Because he is not copying what you have done with Arson PVP he is 100% okay. Lastly, Creative Commons doesn't just copyright a name. Creative Commons copyrights work you have done, but you are allowed to name that work. The work is copyrighted, not the name. You are instigating a stupid argument over something soooo small. Arson is a word you can find in the dictionary and all you and 12 dozen other servers did was add a minigame title after it.

Servers like MinePlex and Hypixel have names that can not be found in the dictionary. You can't just copyright one name using Creative Commons. You can copyright a string of letters or one original name.

Yes, and that's what i've done young man! :)
What have you been trying to do earlier then? I would stop creating cause in the thread because like I said Arson Factions and Arsonpvp are two COMPLETELY different things. Just remember Fanta is copyrighted and Fantasy isn't. Fantasy has Fanta in it, but the copyright only applies to "Fanta."

Don't be scared of some random website telling you they've copyrighted something.

It seemed like a threat at first. Remember, this is the Internet. We can not see what tone of voice you are using due to it being only text. Next time think before you make a "joke"

Let's just get this out of the way so this thread can be cleaned up.
I know a thing or two about copyright, so here's a bit of information.

First off, Copyright applies to creative work, not to a name. That's a trademark. You can claim a trademark on a specific name, but as soon as 1 letter is different in the word itself it becomes difficult territory, especially if it is an unregistered trademark.

So to even create an issue, you'd need to Trademark the name ArsonPvP (it would still be a very shaky issue considering the difference between the names).

This would be a matter of copyright if he had used anything created by you, ArsonPvP, such as server files, graphics and the likes. Which he hasn't.

Second, since you can't even distinguish copyright and trademark, I doubt you know the details about enforcement. So please don't try to act like you're the lawyer and we're the laymen.

Third, ArsonPvP is lisenced under creative commons. Which applies to the website and the server files. not the name.
to the others, since a while ago basic copyright (also known as Author's right) applies automatically to anything someone creates. so that's not the issue.

And last, if you want to enforce copyright, spamming someone's thread is NOT the way to do it. If he HAD actually broken your copyright (which, let me repeat, he HASN'T), you would gather proof of him breaking it by comparing his content to your content, include proof of you making that content before a certain date and his being after that date, then REPORT THE POST OR OPEN A TICKET.

To those that would like to get a bit of knowledge on this matter, here's an interesting read: http://www.templetons.com/brad/copymyths.html

I looked that up to confirm some things, and to give people with a bit less ability to read juridical documentation a chance at understanding

Thank you for making that statement clear
