So for the past few days I've been getting freaked about by AI and what it impact it could have on the future. For example.

In Amazon echo, if you ask questions like "Are you recording my conversation" it will automatically turn off.

Saw a video today when someone said "Are you sending my information to the government" and it just turns off.

I wanna see if you've had any encounters like this, and your opinions on how AI could advance in the future.

Kinda sceptical about this tbh.

Ah, AI. The well known robots of mass "destruction", in the movies atleast. Though there have been some occurrences with robots, with them building their own language with humans, I think we got a good 5 years until the actual AI robot, that is easily able to learn and think for itself is actually put on sale. What I am curious about though, is If there is going to be a "power all down" button. To easily shut down all robots, just incase yah know..

I'm pretty sure that amazon made it so it turns off when those questions are ask, it's their idea of a joke.

Need a reason to not get one of those things? Well, the corporation of these things collect data on you whenever they have the opportunity, and there's possible evidence of google and facebook already using your phone's mic to listen to your converstations and customize your content based on it (not proven conclusively).
If you can't unplug/take out the batteries from these things they're basically permanent spy mics.[DOUBLEPOST=1515982177][/DOUBLEPOST]
You guys are more retarded than the fools who think the Earth is flat.
And you base this on what? The assumption the government never spies on you without a legal warrant to do so? Because snowden debunked that theory. It's best to assume that if you've got a device like this that it's always collecting data about you, even if its just what you ask it for improvement purposes, and that this data may become available to governments upon request.
The idea that there's someone directly listening at the other side of the mic is preposterous, that costs way too much manpower. A far more logical approach would be to have algorithms scanning large databases of collected data for behavior patterns and red flags. Not too different from what Youtube does with demonetization.
There is literally no reason for a government with the resources to do this to not do this. There was no violent revolution after the NSA got ousted, just a lot of complaining and little to no action. Why would they hesitate to collect as much data as possible?
