Hello everyone! My name is Miles and I'm an aspiring writer as well as lorewriter that has been writing on and off in the sidelines. I've made a fair amount of lore, from time to time and I'm wondering if there are ways for me to broaden my work. Is it possible for a lorewriter to go to such a route like sharing lorewriting services. I'm a little reluctant to try it out to be honest.

Anyways, that's all! Have a great day!

Pretty much the same advice you'd be given if you were to ask how to go about improving at any type of writing: read a lot.

It's really important to be aware of the general tropes in various types of fiction (Minecraft server lore is usually fantasy genre, so you should start with those tropes), which you can find on sites like TVtropes and generally across the internet. Obviously it's a good idea to be well-read, especially in the genre you want to write in. If you're writing fantasy, read a lot of fantasy. If you're writing sci-fi, read a lot of sci-fi. However, don't just stick to that. You can combine common themes from different genres and come up with something "new".

I'm not sure from your post what kind of "lore" you're writing, as that's a super broad word, but if you're referring to writing for a Minecraft roleplay server or something, you want to make it so that it doesn't just feel like a bunch of loosely interconnected short stories. Recurring characters, commonly mentioned events, NPCs with memories of various major events, etc. all help to craft a more realistic and engaging experience for the player.

Hope that helped, at least a bit.

Just saw your post! This advice is really great! I'll definitely read more books from time to time, or read other books as well. As for genre, I mainly focus my writing within the spectrum of fantasy and sci-fi as I've focused there for the longest time.

What Zatharel said was extremely good advice. Before I offer my own, do you have any past work or a portfolio we could look at, so I could give more tailored advice? :p

Also, creative writing is definitely a valid career route, and service to offer. Why are you reluctant about it?

Well, I was reluctant in the sense that I have never really tried sharing my ideas, I was very protective of my work for the most part. So when people try to ask for one, I give them subtle details and not the full picture. I have a little bit of trust issue with people but overtime, I am somewhat learning to be more considerate for the most part. As for more work, I only have my previous writings. I am yet to build up a portfolio of my own.[DOUBLEPOST=1594547942][/DOUBLEPOST]

I am yet to build up a portfolio of my own. I do have a google doc compilation of some of the stuff that I wrote overtime.

Sure! Is there a way for me to send you my previous writings? I can't post links at the moment since I am still fairly new.
