As we all know, we see scammers all the time, it could range from new members to slightly reputable members but one type of scammer that are the most dangerous and hardest to identify are impersonators! I have been scammed TWICE by an impersonator. Let me explain how though so other users, new or experienced do not make the same mistake!
The first time I was scammed, I was quite new and someone added me on skype, he said he was selling a cheap gift card so I wanted to buy it, he was "reputable" so I went first, but it turns out he was a fake of the real, reputable member.
The second time, I was scammed by a much different person, his skype name was "Menly" (Menly ) he had a huge plan, he added me on skype, I told him I don't deal with users on skype so I asked him to provide evidence that he owned the profile Menly, which he "did," I got a notification that Menly commented on my profile so I went ahead with the deal. I send half, he sends whole, then I send the other half, but he scammed me for .2 LTC ($30) and I went ahead to report him. When I called him out, Menly strongly denied it, and I tried working it out by he would not budge, so I looked into, it turns out, the scammer had TWO skypes, he was talking to Menly and had him comment on my profile as a type of "proof" so it made it seem like I was actually working with the real Menly.
I say impersonators are one of the most dangerous scammers because they cannot be banned, I doubt they can be caught, and they are VERY convincing especially to newer members.
I'm sure some of you will say that I'm just stupid to fall for it, which may be true, but LOTS of users are scammed this way. And some might just say to use a MiddleMan, but sadly, there are TONS of middle man impersonators.
BOTTOM LINE, try to work ONLY in MCM PMs, check the User's profile page, go to their "Information" section, and confirm their discord, skype or whatever you guys are using.
Please try and show this to newer members of the site so they are not pissed and leave the site right after they join because they were scammed.
I DID NOT write this for reactions as I don't really care about that, I just wrote this to 1) Clear Menly's name since I accused him of scamming.
2) Stopping newer members (maybe even older user) from being scammed
3) To take my anger out.
