A former member of mc-market made a post on [Censored] recently that has sense been closed but contained the MC-Market Database leak and it was dropped on January 1st. I think as a community we deserve to know what information was compromised and how safe we are from having passwords and accounts compromised.

This DB is fake. I already looked over this and the database appears to be from a old German forum. The registration dates were from 2011 and it only had 8k+- users in it while ours has 20k+.

Nothing to be concerned of, it's fake.

I'd also just like to jump in and confirm that everything is safe on our side and no database breach has ever occurred, and will not occur. We take security very seriously (Heck, that's why they hired somebody for it) and can assure you your data is safe, and that sensitive information such as passwords are encrypted.

Most DB drops are inside jobs. What protects us against a disgruntled staff member? Like say someone who has access to the DB gets demoted, and they decide to enact revenge... or even worse, hold the community hostage? And not to dumb down your role, but what exactly do you do? It's not exactly rocket surgery to keep the database secure.
