People can choose when their own auction ends because you can't be forced to sell a 2500x2500 map for $20 because no one else bid and you don't like the bid.

The point of auctions are so that people can bid before end time and get a "bargain" of a price. For sellers bids can drive price over BINs. Its not their fault if they don't get enough Bids to beat their BINs.

This guy took the words out of my mouth. You can't force a seller to sell for a price they don't want. That's just insanely stupid. Unless both parties enter an agreement, they aren't bound to anything. An example is sedo, a sale isn't confirmed until both parties accept.

This would just mean no auctions would occur and people will say "Offers in region of [Price person wants]"
Well, that wouldn't be an auction then. Perhaps an end date to when the auction ends. Like a painting, there's an auction, people bid on it. If the auction ends and there's no suitable buyer, the painting isn't sold.

I mean, there needs to be a period when the auction ends, you just can't force a seller to sell it then. If an auction doesn't end, it's not an auction, it's just the attempt for a sale with an unknown price because the seller isn't sure what they want or can get.

It's already a rule that auctions must have end dates. If the auction doesn't have an end date, report it and we'll put the thread into moderation until the OP adds an end date. ;)
