Auth Ad Awareness
Pros vs. Cons.
Please note these are my thoughts and experiences with auth ads. I have gotten to know the ad market for over 8 months now and I am a knowledgeable figure.
- Often provides a fast amount of joins in a short amount of time
- Even better when users are newly authed (Maximum 2 weeks to be "newly authed")
- Burst of activity at the start of Advertising.

- Often poor member quality. Many users don't talk after the first week or so. Members don't react after the first week or so.
- Users don't like to be randomly added to servers and often just leave. High leave rate.
- Sometimes very expensive, depending on providers.
- Discord is now hitting hard on auth ads and threatening to remove users from the platform for this Activity. Any service that claims to be with discord tos, I would run confirmation with Someone at discord.gg/discord-developers

My decision to post this thread was to spread awareness to new users who are buying ads. I am not try to defame or affect sales of other users or shine light on them, but purely inform. I do plan to start selling these servers myself and making improvements to the auth market.

To support the pros, if your looking for the pros, auth are a great option, I would not advise to buy in high quantity as of the cons, I can't speak for all auth services, but I can speak for the majority. From what I've seen the cons are backed up from the 5+ servers that bought lots of auth ads. One in particular bought up to 30,000 users, but shortly died after 2 weeks and was sold. I've observed this many times. An argument to my second con may be that "Users have incentive to stay because of a giveaway", but 90% of users really don't care about a giveaway and likely will ditch your server, my server would be at 25k if all the users stayed, but it's only at 9k. A giveaway won't Incentivize users to stay, not to mention the ones that will quit discord not knowing why they are randomly added to a server. For the third con, you can research that yourself, do you really think the "extra joins", will cover for the leaves? Lastly the argument of discord, most of these services that are running this, arnt complying with discord tos. It would be safe to say none of these would!

To summarize, I do not recommend buying auth ads, this is purely my opinion and I recommend doing your research, also any service that sounds to good to be true, generally is(Anything above $1/30 joins/stays).

I may be coming into the auth market soon, providing services that follow discord tos, as I'll be working with Kadybat with figuring that out. Anyways stay safe, don't get scammed or cut short, and be smart with your money

As a person who has been selling auth ads for around 8+ months now, and actually the first ever to sell auth ads on MCM, I can agree/disagree with this post, some people who do auth ads have done it in a very scummy way, they trick users into authing, don't give servers any extra members, etc... While I do agree with some of the points in your thread as these are basically the majority of auth ads on MCM, I'd say mine, in particular, are pretty different, while I'm sad to hear that you've had a bad experience with auth ads in the past, I wouldn't tear them down fully if you haven't tried good ones. Ads similar to mine have over 170+ Vouches, with almost no de-vouches. This is particularly due to how my ads are done, we make sure every single user joining is aware of how they join, and anyone who's confused is made aware or just removed from the system entirely, we give every single ad no matter how small from 150 extra joins minimum to up to 300 extra which stops the server from ever losing the guaranteed member count. We help the server engage the users correctly to generate activity that lasts way longer then the 1 week period you mention, and at the end of the day if after all of this you're unsatisfied I would not mind providing a partial refund. To add-on to the partial refund point, I've only ever had to refund 3 or so ads from my over 500+ sold, which shows how the ad usually is good overall. Anyways these are my 2 cents.

PS: The whole discord ToS point is invalid, from my contact with discord support I've been told as long as users know what they're getting themselves into, it's fully compliant with the ToS, so I do the absolute best I can to let every single user joining know why exactly they're joining, from announcements to warnings before signing up. You also need to understand users are given something in return for signing up (most of the time, in my case at least) which would be their incentive.

I'm pretty similar in the way of doing my normal ads ngl. Yes, keynote "majority". Can't vouch for something haven't bought tho .-.

Glad to hear it, just saying after I've been selling on here for this long that (in my eyes at least) don't go purchase a random auth ad if it doesn't have at least 30 vouches. Make sure to read every single reply on the thread and what people think exactly, and ask questions before purchasing!

For the edit, from what I was told, https://discord.gg/discord-developers have said that auth is against tos, they did say stuff about notice and things, do you litterally just send a dm saying they were added and such or? Lol.

No, auth isn't against ToS if that was the case then bots such as Patreon and Twitch who do the same to add users who subscribe to users on a site to servers would also be against ToS. Discord Support mentioned aslong as the users joining are 100% aware of what they're doing it's fine, and another thing is they can't be forced to do it (such as some cases I've seen before, where you've got to authorize a bot to get access to a server for example), that's about it.

Edit; Forgot to reply to the last question, no I don't send a dm as discord doesn't allow a mass-dm or just the bot dmming without the user having clicked on a reaction or typed a discord bot command first to initiate the dm. Users whenever they auth are sent announcements in an announcement channel every couple of days to remind them about the authentication. Also as I've mentioned there's a disclaimer/warning before authing on the site. That's it!
