Auto Ads for shoutbox [Supreme]

Put in your advertisement message that you want to be advertised properly/(every 20 minutes now?), and it will be advertised in the shoutbox as such.

It can be disabled via preferences in your xenforo profile or via command in the shoutbox. I feel this will indefinitely spam the shoutbox with advertisements HOWEVER the feature should be DISABLED if you are AFK on the site (don't view a thread or navigate to a new page) after some period of time.

Its just an idea, don't start a flame war/saying its a stupid idea with me. Let's just discuss what can get the poorly timed advertisements that don't follow the 20 minute rule over with in shoutbox.

Btw [Supreme] entails, this is a feature for Supreme users.

I agree but also can be heavily abused.

If the process is streamlined/automated, I don't see abuse. I simply see spam in the shoutbox. But whats new? At least it'll be 20 minute interval regulated spam. Also you'd just need to track if its possible to know if someone is afking MC-Market on their browser, and then disable the auto advertisement.

Oh... nvm, that auto refresher would be abuse Hmmm, we need a different way then to keep track of whether your account is actively in shoutbox.

How will this stop people from just posting links tho? I can still post links, and they can't exactly not allow posting links because it's a chat and that will be stupid.

It wouldn't stop people from posting links, but its on the chat mods to crack down on users who do risk posting too early/advertising too frequently. Whereas using this feature will keep you safe

I suggest a 30-40 minute interval if it is automatic... Since it is less effort and annoying.

Its not a matter of increasing the advertising time since theres so many supreme users that would use this feature, the shoutbox would still fill up with ads. There needs to be a way to detect whether you're an active supreme user on site that will reduce the spam to look "natural" like posting the links yourself.

I just feel like it will get spammy and annoying. I don't like ads as is and I feel like it will get out of hand.

As it is I feel like we already have too many advertisements in the chat for my liking, and I feel like making it an automated system will only disrupt the flow of conversation even more than it does at the moment.
