So I already got a custom theme being developed for my website Drakiamoro

I'm going to be soon looking for a custom logo to go with theme that sums up the name of the server.

Let me break down how I got the name

Dragon, Pikachu (Yellow colouring) & oriental style (Cause I love anime / Japan)

So I would be looking at a logo being done that firstly used a dragon with hints of pikachu in it be it colour or the details of pikachu.

And adding in an oriental style to the logo perhaps adding in some pink lotuses or cherry blossoms just subtle stuff to relate to my likeness of anime/japan.

Now the question I ask now. What is the average pricings for these types of logos?

I see some people charging $200+ which I'm not likely to pay for something like that. As it feels like a rip off to me.

And I see people offering for as low as $10 which is okay but feels like ripping off the artist.

Can someone quote me in this thread a good affordable price for said specs I have up above? And as to what would be a reasonable range I could go min / max when looking for a logo.

I would say around $50-$100 would be a fair price for this, just my opinion though.

That would seem a pretty good range I suspect. My theme as it is costing me $70 to be created.

So a max of $100 I would suspect to be reasonable so as to not rip off either parties. Whilst $50 gives a fairly high enough backdrop.

You pay for what you get. Pay 10 and you won't get the same results as the 200+ ones. Go for an artist as you like and get a quote of from them.
Sure, you can try to negotiate prices but you'll never be able to get the same thing from a different artist.

Also, how do you know what a rip off is? Are you experienced in this field?

No matter what, don't ever be a douche and disrepsect someone for their prices.

The problem with art is people often place the price on the final product rather than the process, experience, time and dedication to the piece. To be fair, what you are asking for sounds relatively detailed and it's good that you're considering the prices before jumping in without thought. Generally speaking, the higher the price, the higher the quality so you'd be getting your money's worth. If you're concerned about "ripping off" an artist for low prices, pay them extra or what you think it's worth.

I can't really imagine the composition too well (interesting palette and theme though). I'd have $100 as a basis, if you're looking for HQ logo you might be able to snag $75 and if you find someone at $50, that would be a steal (but you better treat them like a royal or else.. -cracks knuckles-). Be prepared to go over 100 though, that's where most of our dudes sit.

Good luck on your search, if you need recs- pm me.

My sister is an artist but not in the graphic setting. I personally do Games Development programming. my art skills are not so good but I can tell through observation what is worth a rip off and what isn't a rip off more or less...

I understand very much the time and labour costs things go into making said object but I wouldn't see as something around £136 ($200) - (I'm british so I have to do conversions and stuff) but yeah £136 is alot of money for what might be a medium sized image. That's why I'm getting an average on price ranges. Cause yes high price could be good quality. But if we look at alot of stuff on todays market like beats headphones or iphone etc. In reality they cost £16 & £60 (£16 - Beats headphone production costs) (£60 Iphone production costs) and then a company logo is slapped on them and they rise to £400 - £600 a piece.

So yes 200 might be accepted as high quality for that but that's not to say the artist is a more popular artist and thus with their popularity are able to hike up the prices.

Gonna be honest, it's hard to decide on an "average price" because every artist has different prices and they vary A LOT. More often than not, with higher prices you get higher quality work.

Personally, I'd be willing to do this logo for $120 since you're asking for quite a lot. At least the way I'm picturing it, It would be very detailed and require a lot of work to really do it justice. If you're willing to pay my price, I'd love to work on this for you. Here's some of my work and stuff.

Oh yeah and 1+
Don't hate on artists for their prices, they know what their work is worth better than anyone else.

I'll keep noted. As can't do so much until the theme for website is done so I can then look at what might work best for it & likewise show artists what their logo will blend into.[DOUBLEPOST=1464564348][/DOUBLEPOST]

No hate intended whatsoever. Yes artist knows what their work is worth better than anyone else but that's up to popularity to decide it in the beginning sometimes (not saying all the time) Cause you don't want to see an artist offer examples of what they've done that look utter rubbish yet they value it at $300 etc. (Again not hate on artist, just some areas of art annoy me.)

It's not the same though.. I'm in an art chat with 22 other minecraft artists and from the ones I'm aware of, they usually charge by estimated hour. It makes it 'fair' on both the costumer and the artist. A lot of hours goes into detailed art depending on the style.

Sure, some artists can bump their prices up due to the amount of requests but you're unlikely to find someone as will do it for a low price yet bring the quality you seem to desire. Also, most artists will give you a price and then it might be bumped up if you want changes.

Just be open and go with someoen you like

That's fair enough. In hourly rate as that's what most people go by with nowadays. Welp from the response I'm getting around a idea budget range I'd say $50 (Possible but min range) $100 - $200 (More likely) $250 (also possible but max range)

So all in all $50 - $250 for an idea. Although I'd have to look at saving up some extra cash though :-D
