Have you ever lost money from a scammer who takes the payment, withdraw the funds out of his PayPal and runs away from Mcm & PayPal with little to no recourse? Unfortunately, depending on the circumstance, PayPal does not refund your money if they cannot retrieve the funds from the scammers balance! (And even if they return funds to your account, it takes a LONG time to process).
Avoid the con artists with this simple but highly efficient guide into excluding scammers from your list of Easter shopping this year.
1.) Never pay upfront unless reputable
Do not under any reason pay the full funds to a user with a small quantity of good reactions or vouches. If you notice that this user is trying to build his reputation, but has yet to make his project through MCM, you know he/she is fishy.
The general rule for new users who have only active for a few weeks, do not pay anything upfront, even 50%. It's not hard for the user to take half of the money and run away with it. While you may have lost less in this situation, you're still out for the other half.
Simply inform the the seller that because you're new, you will pay the funds after the work is done (look at the proof through screenshots and validate it's not photoshopped).
At this point, your safe and sound. However, for really new users who just joined, ask them that they'll you'll pay 25% first after seeing the work done, then 25% work after they send the other quarter of the work, and keep going until you hit 100%.
For reputable users who have loads of donation, vouches, 500+ good reactions and official and a professional thread, usually means it's safe to pay upfront (You can also ask the seller to pay 50% upfront first and 50% after the work is complete).
2.) Never send under Family & Friends
If you send any payment under family and friends, you cannot open a dispute for "item not received" or "item not described". You're only recourse is filling an unauthorized claim, which will look like you're intentionally trying to get your money back, overall causing your PP getting suspended & case being dismissed.
3.) Find fibs or lies
This is quite simple. For example, if the user claims he lives in UK, go on his other forums sites and see if the profile location also says "from UK" (Or resolve his IP and whois it). Just ask him questions which he could then say "yes", then verify by doing an easy research on Google to see if he's bullshitting you.
If he is full of bullcrap, drop the deal and don't take the risk of dealing with a hassle or scammer.
4.) Trust your guts!
If you feel like this guy is fishy, write a thread on the forum asking if he's legit or not and post the chat logs. Members around MC MARKET can help you out.
Adding more! That's all for now.
