HI there,

In my past I owned small factions servers and skyblock that had at peak times 3-4 hundred players online.
Now I am looking to get into the game so I have a vew questions.

1. What are the most popular gamemodes in minecraft (ie skylbock, factions, prisons etc).
2. Best server host?
3. Best server jar?
4. is 1.8 based servers still the way to go?
3. Any alternatives to somethign like Aqua Core, or is Aqua Core the best jar Core..
4. Are there new things that if occured would being down my network, and how could I protect this.

Thanks!

Lot of gamemodes are playable now, depends how good you can make them
For 1.8 server Vortex Spigot is the best one, and about cores, best solution is to find some dev and make a new one only for you

I strongly believe that chill servers or PvE servers are the way to go, so like skyblock, survival, prison, etc.
I also think that it's time to give up on 1.8 and only use 1.20+. The difference in what you can do is insane and it's just not worth it to use 1.8 anymore.
Thank you for your response.

Do you have much experince hosting a server?
Do you believe that many other people believe that we should finally ditch 1.8?

Thanks for advice! Great to see the game getting back to its roots! For those looking to jump back in and catch up quickly, I've found that using a boosting service can really help. Check out this link https://eloboss.net/dota2-boosting for some solid options if you’re interested. It’s a good way to get back up to speed and make the most out of the current meta.
