Backwards Compatibility

Hey, I have seen some servers having a 'backwards compatibility' plugin.

The way I would describe it: I join a 1.14 server, and my client is 1.8.9, when I see a Ravager, on 1.8.9 it is just a fast pig with a nametag "Ravager" but on 1.14 it is a normal Ravager. Same for the other items, eg. Shulker Boxes etc. I was wondering what plugin is this, because I really dislike viaversion and how it restricts newer items.

If you can, please send me the name of this plugin.

Is there a specific addon for protocol support that makes this happen, or is this built-in?
