This is just a simple poll to see what the COMMUNITY thinks about ebooks. I personally find them very unreliable and prone to many chargebacks/leaks. Some sellers distribute content that is basically common-sense. I am not pointing any fingers towards anything or anyone, but just in general. Since I cannot create a poll, just disagree or agree.

Btw please do not ban me for replicating the previous thread after it was locked. It's a shame that the thread had to be locked for excessive off-topic and flaming. So please do not do the same on this thread. Please do not accuse anyone, just simply state your opinions.

This is just like what happened with the Accounts. "Unreliable", just like these ebooks. I don't see why I shouldn't ask what the community thinks.

I personally believe that would mean they would be taking a lack of responsibility by them, nothing against them and there decisions (even though many I do NOT agree with. If the information on an e-book is worth the price which is set I see no issue with the sale of e-books.
Make guidelines and rules for them, this is a MARKET website, banning the sales of certain items will only throw people away and honestly over the past few months I have had no real positives I have seen come from this site as there's so many people trying to pull one over on you or get free stuff, it makes it almost not worth it.

Agreed. I remember when amaraone made a thread for his "money-making" ebook which didn't even work and caused a bunch of drama resulting in money making/blackhat ebooks being banned.

What I see many people do with ebooks is take something that can be explained in a few paragraphs or less and turn it into 10-15 pages of irrelevant extra information and unneeded diagrams and pictures meant to take up space and make it look like you didn't get ripped off. Either that, or the "method" is common knowledge or already is leaked.

In fact now that I think about it, I've never once seen an ebook that wasn't a blatant ripoff meant to make the most money from the least effort.

I agree with Banning the sale of ebooks, most users on here don't take them serious enough or put forth enough time, and put a price tag on them. However, just like the wiki page, there are people who are willing to make free eBooks to help users, which I see nothing wrong.
So either that, or at the very least put a low max price tag. I know people should be allowed to set their own prices, but since users can't view the product before buying, they can easily be ripped off, like $50 (You know who...) for an e-book that isn't as big and helpful as a textbook is ridiculous.

E-books are basically legal scams. If it's free then I guess that it is fine but people could still just post the damn method on the thread. I feel as if e-books are _meant_ to be full of crap besides the method to make them look larger.

Just a small suggestion, what about a system where before buying the seller has to provide access to a few pages of the ebook (or the ebook is uploaded and some pages are randomly selected, if it's total shit, people are not going to buy it, just as if a build images (/the actual build) are total shit, no-one is going to buy it.

If we can figure out a way of making the current system a lot less scam-easy (or something like that) then I support the allowed sale of e-books (although with heavy price and content restrictions :p).

Was there not a rule before? Saying they were not allowed.
There's a current rule in place but it only pertains to certain kinds of ebooks, not all.

The problem would be people would just go around getting free access to pages of them and just not buying them. It can be easily abused.

Maybe, although the assumption is, if you're releasing an ebook of sale worthy content it would be long enough and of good enough quality that a few pages being available to the public as an example of the content included would just entice the buyer to purchase the ebook even more.

And the pages displayed would have to be randomly selected from the most recent edition of the ebook.

Nah. E-books can be _very_ convincing and the buyer can think that they were not scammed. However, they were.

You could argue that for a lot of products on MCM. As far as the scam system on MCM says, if the buyer is not aware that they have been scammed, they haven't been scammed :p And if any random page in a ebook is of excellent quality, you could only assume that the other pages are as well.

There is no real reason for banning it. If people want to make it, let them. If people want to buy it, well its up to them.

And if people to want charge back because they feel scammed/ripped-off, then let them?

All depends on the TOS. They should read stuff, and know what they are buying.

and with that idea, there should be a way that they can tell what they are buying apart from just what the person selling the book says. If we can get one of those right, I think their should be no problem with ebooks.

They don't know what they're really buying is the thing. I could just advertise an ebook claiming it will help you achieve or gain a certain something. If people see that all these methods are already well-known or common sense, then 1. People are going to chargeback 2. People are going to make scam reports from both sides 3. It's just a mess seeing all the recent drama.
