3 times now, in 3 days, have I seen the George Floyd conversation. 3 times now have I seen an argument that had to be ended each time by staff. Each time nobody is open to new ideas and it's simply annoying. It's just endless bickering over an important topic in the wrong place.

I feel like this should be further prevented with some sort of rule with a fairly high amount of warning points to ward people away from such conversations. It's not something you want to wake up and see.

I think this would make a lot of people happier.

Might as well ban any other discussion while you're at it, why do you want this again?

There's actually a rule covering the shoutbox in terms of long-winded, heated or flooding personal arguments.
3.3 Do not flame/flood the shoutbox with personal arguments.

Yesterday's argument was a very good example of a heated argument. And I'd think that comes under personal arguments.

Note: From a logical standpoint, arguments including political ones that go through all of the shoutbox prevent advertisements and friendly conversations. Several times I tried to start a conversation with someone else and no one replied because 2-3 people were arguing.

I'm not. I'm simply annoyed at users who think they know everything flooding shoutbox with useless arguemnts.
Ignore it then. No need to make a huge fuss about it.

Hard to Ignore when it goes on for 3+ hours. But I understand both points. However, who the f cares xD It's a selling site. Use a thread to talk about it or make a discord where you can argue about whatever you want. I want people to see my trash threadssssss

I originally reacted with "Agree" mainly because I never really liked these overly political opinions of the world, but I just left when these happened.
I do believe there is a line that shouldn't be crossed but to outright ban these? Firm no. If these weren't liked they wouldn't be talked about. So there's obviously some people that care about this enough to discuss it.

Long story short, no. I do not believe this should be implemented and if you don't like it like I do then just leave temporarily and come back later.

I personally disagree with this, I haven't really used MCM in the last year or so, I just get on to make some simple deals and the like, or when I need to do a loans. I've make political posts in the past, in fact a lot of people have. Most of the people who have say 1.5k+ posts, lots of rep and liked by the community are normally open to others opinions and willing to change their own over facts etc. It sucks that's theres a lot of randoms(like 50 posts and shit and no one knows), that decide to needlessly be toxic and cause strife with other MCM members. Recently, there's been a lot of peaceful protects about Floyd's death, but then there are those that decide looting, pillaging etc is gonna somehow help the situation when it doesn't, kinda like them, but on a forum over the internet instead of raiding stores. We have more control over the content here, and I say just warn those who decide to start a flame war for no need and over such a serious topic.

EDIT: I saw posts above about it being in chatbox, when I somehow misread the thread or something. There's a ignore button for a reason, and imo you should be making threads or DMs for long long political debates/arguments. Chatbox is also used to other things as well, so try to not have long discussions in general on it xd

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."

People are allowed to exercise their right of free speech if given the opportunity and the right circumstance. As long as MC-M prohibits it.

Personally, I don't have any issue with people discussing politics in the shoutbox. It creates conversation. Although it can lead to misinformation, that shouldn't matter since the media spreads false information every day. No matter what side of any discussion you fall under, you should agree that people should be able to talk about whatever topic they want. Regardless of whether the discussion is on-site or off-site. I don't know, that's my $0.02.

I will not be arguing this suggestion. Everybody can have their own opinion, but I'm not up for it. I simply wanted to put this out there.

That's fine, but the point of being able to comment to help gather the communities thoughts about it to make a educated saying on whether it should be implemented or not. People have said their views/opinions, and will continue to do so, until Mick/Justis comes to a verdict.

Orochimaru has a point.

Honestly, everyone's getting on me about "what a kid I am" and how I need to "grow up" but when given the facts and only the facts it would be beneficial to have it gone. I personally am just tired of the same mess over and over, where staff have had to intervene every time I have witnessed it.

Say what you will about me, that's what I think.[DOUBLEPOST=1590987526][/DOUBLEPOST]Orochimaru, yes, posts had not loaded at the time of sending.[DOUBLEPOST=1590987603][/DOUBLEPOST]Really, even after a verdict is made, people will still have opinions, and flame you because they may think you're wrong, where you may think you're right. Opinions are shitty like that.
