I was heavily involved in the Minecraft server community for approximately 5 years before I got too busy with college, work, and other activities. I recently have found ample time on my hands and Minecraft is something I'd like to get back into especially after spending countless hours playing survival with friends on the most recent versions. Most of my experience is with Factions and I've seen that it's still relatively popular and the Minecraft community overall has stayed very alive which is great to see.
A few questions I have:
What platforms are most public servers running on now? I see Spigot and Paperspigot are constantly updated along with many of my old purchased resources.
What server types are still popular? (Aside from minigames, Hypixel seems to have the uncontested monopoly)
What versions are people mostly playing? My activity with servers decreased around the release of 1.9.
When I was running servers, I was very successful with Factions and have some experience with Skyblock. From some simple searching, it seems that most of the core game modes (Factions, Skyblock, Prison) seem to still be industry leaders. I'd like to start another faction or Skyblock server, as I have lots of old files/plugins/builds that I never implemented. Regardless, good to be back and I hope to receive some quality feedback.
