Being Fucked Over

I know this isn't the best place to post this on, but I need help.

I recently hired a developer for my server back in August. He's 14 and didn't want to be paid as he did it for a hobby. He continuously worked on the server for 2 months with me and I had told him I'd pay him afterward for his good work. Last night he messages me telling me hes leaving my server. I accept it, and ask for SRC to various plugins I bought. I bought many plugins and cores from other developers on MC-Market, but he has the files and I do not. Every plugin including the source code and dedicated server has been hijacked by him. I was thinking about taking legal action as he practically stole $1700 from me, though I don't have enough information on him. I only have his general location, his name and father's name. What should I do?

I also took a loan for the server for the dedi, the dev took it. And I can't pay back with no server. So now my account is also likely go get banned

1700$ is a lot of money as a 15 year old. Don’t lose motivation on your server, keep ur heads up!

You want to stalk a 14 year old for deleting files that he had been given access to?
Not only will that not stand up in court, but the charges for lawyers will be more than your going to get back.
And the chance that the courts will view him other than a minor is very unlikely.

I can care less about the dedi. It was loaned money and the person who loaned the money is charging back. I just care about my plugins

That's a whole other situation that has nothing to do with this. Some 11 year old child was ratting his brother. Being charged back on is from the dedi from the loan Violet paid for.

If you just want the plugins why don't you contact the plugin developers you paid money too, provide proof you paid them and ask for the sources? You will lose the months of work he put into the server but at least you didn't lose the money you paid for the plugins. If you have access to the hosting provider why not put the server in recovery/rescue mode and recover the files? If you have absolutely no access to anything.. what exactly have you been doing as a 'server owner' spending $1700 on something you have no control over?

Most likely since they are 14 the police can't do anything at least in multiple countries that's the case and they most likely know that. If you want to annoy him get a discord bot that sends them friend requests all the time but I wouldn't recommend it since it may make it worse. If you can show the devs proof of you buying the plugins ask them for a new copy and revoke his perms for the plugin
