Spending $300 on advertising isn't worth it if you only have a small player base. Try advertising on forums and put your server in the signature (if it's allowed) or advertise somewhere like PMC or MC Servers List and get those players to vote for your server to boost your ranking! Then spend the $300 when you got around an average of 50-100 players online. Just because everyone hate being on a server with not that much people. That's how servers get no players. And also, be active on your server and be friendly to people.

What i personally did, was hire a bunch of small youtubers with 100-500 subs who where recourent for free, got myself a steady playerbasr of 25-30 players. Then threw some miney into a serverlist and a bigger youtuber. I boosted from 30-60 within that month
With $300 you could possibly get a 30000-50000 youtuber to upload a server trailer.
All in all. It depends how far you wanna take it.

I recommend that you post on all social medias, definitely get some medium youtubers with like 10K subs which I believe you would be able to afford since you have a budget of $300 and also you could go to famous social media accounts and request shoutouts from them. I believe this would gain you a bunch of traffic.
I suggest you to hire youtubers to record episodes on your server. Choose youtubers wisely, they must charge affordably and they must have good subscriber engagement ratio. Try not to pick youtubers with similar subscriber base because then you won't get as much people on if you would hire 2 youtubers with completly different subscriber bases.
Jesus, 300 dollar is a lot, you can get lots of advertisement for that, you can get the biggest YouTubers to have a few episodes on your channel.

Let me guess, you told them your budget first didn't you? My way is if I have loads of money I'd still negotiate for less. $125 is too much for a 10K subbed guy, I see that around $30 is actually good for you and the YouTuber. Start off by going and asking them for the price and if the price is near $30 try and negotiate for less, if that doesn't work then buy, but if it's far from $30 and negotiating doesn't work I don't really recommend you to buy it.Thank you
