Yo. I'm looking for the best advertising methods, paid or free. My budget is quite small, $100ish. Youtubers, serverlists, discords, etc. I'm trying to learn something new to grow my server. I have found that small youtubers under 5k subs are a complete waste of money. Is that right? Someone guide me lol

Youtubers are really a waste of money. Streamers are not good either since they only pull players when they are online/streaming. I would suggest different types of advertisement depending on the server you are releasing.

I own a discord (https://discord.gg/giveaway). Discord advertisements are a great way to get exposure for your server, but it should not be your only way. Currently, I have noticed that TikTok is a great way to advertise for a pretty reasonable price. I would try and reach out a tiktokers in the genre you are looking to advertise in after you get a semi following from a discord advertisement or two. If you need any more guidance or would be interested in an advertisement from my discord, feel free to dm me on discord. Good luck!

Definitely think Tiktok is something to put your attention to if you do it right of course. Also, make schedules with YouTubers & Streamers to upload on. Doing that will give you a consistent player base, bigger YouTubers are not worth trying. The moment you run out of money all the players will be gone. Having multiple YouTubers and streamers on a schedule will reduce expenses and gives you a lot of publicity.

Oh and yeah, ads are great for the word-of-mouth marketing strategy, you can try doing giveaways that would require people to do something like invite friends or have your discord link in their status.

Hope that helps!

You should probably start by getting a Discord server online, and purchase a few ads for that. Once your Discord server is active, I advise looking for some YouTubers/Streamers to upload frequently about your server.

From what I hear, server list slots on server listing websites are good, but I'm not too sure myself. It's certainly something to look into, good luck.

Have you tried having ads here and at some other forums? or like on Reddit etc? Voting helps - when the community is active and vote - do you have vote parties set up? or vote rewards to encourage players to vote?

I have found some success with that. I find all this advertising stuff hit or miss sometimes, especially if you are not rich! Maybe I am doing it all wrong myself? haha.

Also, it depends not only what game mode you have, but also if your server is whitelisted or public too I have found. Some people have had success with engaging activity on some forums where you are allowed to advertise if your server is whitelisted.

I do agree with what some of the others here have said. I have used little you tubers and streamers in the past, for this server I have and a previous server, and I found once I ran out of money or couldn't afford the "increase" of their costs, then the person went off to other projects and there goes all the people.

I also found with discord ads that it seemed great, sure you get a bunch of people in the discord, but then do they really join the actual server? I don't know? it's all something that seems to be dependent on various factors.

There are quite a few free and inexpensive ways out there I am sure. I too am still learning myself!

Good luck!
