Don't fall into the trap and use a 1.8 jar because it's the "og combat version". You can still get the same combat even with a newer version like 1.12.2 and still support 1.8, especially if you're going to have skyblock.

Using 1.8 in 2019 for servers other than factions and HCF is just bad.

I mean that generally "custom spigots" like BreadSpigot etc. are just a rip-off in my opinion, mainly because they're built on 1.8 and 1.8 is I believe around 5 years old by now and there's just too many other better, newer, more stable and most important of all, free alternatives by now. Everyone thinks that 1.8 is the "good version" while in reality it honestly just is the latest version mojang released with the combat system that is liked. That does not make 1.8 the best option for servers, and. it is not the best option for servers nor developers. You can still get the same combat experience alongside many other added bonuses from higher and more stable versions of Minecraft while still supporting 1.8 clients if you wish to do so.

The custom spigots are asking for a premium price whilst in the end, all they do is keep back your server (as in keeping you running on an old and unstable version).
