So, I have no clue which card I should go for so ~ shrug ~ perhaps someone here has some recommendations. I currently have a checking and savings with a local CU but their card options kinda suck.

I'm a minor, so it has to be a card my parents can cosign for, but it should be my account.
Not like, it's their account but I'm just added as a user of the card bs.

Looking for a secured card because
a) I have no credit history
b) I'd only get a $200-500 limit on an unsecured card ... and wtf is the point of that.

It'd be nice if it offered cashback or points or anything of the sorts, but alot of secured cards dont :/

Usually there are three main ones that give out secured cards. CapitalOne, Discover and Citi. Seeing that CapitalOne's CC applications got leaked (over 100 million credit card applicants stolen), I would probably go for Discover, that's what I use at least. Their student card has 2% cash back and required a $200 minimum deposit (secured credit line). But it's a student card and I don't know if they would accept you for it, but I wasn't asked what school I went to, i'm 18.

One option is for them to open a new credit card (secured or not) and add you as an authorized user. Even better they could add you as an authorized user to their credit card that they use, and just sit and build up credit. I would only advise doing that if your parents have good credit.

Honestly I don't recommend any card if you are under 18. Ask your parents or brother (if he is above 18+)
I already have a debit card, I'm looking for a cc for a reason , that reason isn't to have you tell me you don't recommend a cc.

I stated in the post that I wasn't looking to be added as an authorized user, I want them to only be added as a cosigner.

Hm. I saw Citi offered some but ( I could be mistaken ) they don't offer cashback or rewards?

Looking to make a ~$1-2k deposit. Mostly wanting an unsecured card so that the credit limit can be high and I don't need to be right up against it lmao.

Discover is online only though right?
Can I even signup as a minor for discover with parents as cosigners? I think I can be added as an authorized user for discover, but not as the primary cardholder.

Honestly, you're going to have no credit at first so go with whichever bank is convenient for you. All student cards are going to have terrible APR and any offers for joining their bank through promotions (free t shirt, beach ball, etc) are generally worthless. Pick up any card and pay it off monthly for something like a subscription service. After you turn 18 or older, apply for a regular card with a decent amount of headroom. If you're terrible at financing, as in paying on time, then some banks' APR values and 0% interest fees may interest you and may be worth exploring. Changing banks is very easy, so don't overthink it too much. Just focus on paying on time as a student.
Personally, I was able to open a student card for $500 but I really didn't need that much headroom as a kid at the time so I capped it at $300 (I was in high school way back then and I really didn't burn through money, I just let it build up in a savings account). Earlier this year, with a godly ~810 credit score, I was approved for a $1k card. Now I spend about $300 regularly and pay it off well before it's due. Bonus tip, if you have extra headroom, ask to set the cap at what you'd spend but multiply by 2. I.g if I spend $150 per month and pay it off on time, I'd want around $300 as using half your limit helps credit score the most. I hope that helps.

Edit: facepalm, I skipped over the secure part. Just pick your poison as they are all just as likely to be breached as each other.
