I use FastVPN which is pretty nice so far.
Already have it and honestly, not very fast and just needs more work instead of using OpenVPN and multiple profiles for different countries. It's a good starter.

ProtonVPN is pretty good to be a free one, for basic web browsing and watching shows outside your country, it's pretty fast.
Not to mention that Proton itself (VPN, Mail and Drive) are pretty good alternatives to Google's suite. As for the other options, NordVPN it's good and cheap, recommended for anyone that wants an upgrade.

NordVPN being located in Panama is good, however, their zero logs policy is a complete lie. Previous data breaches have shown they log personalized information from their users that allows to piece together the users traffic.
Also, be wary of accessing proton outside of tor.

I still recommend creating a mullvad acct through Tor, paying via Bitcoin scrambler (ik it's not perfect but makes it a more effort than it's worth to track back, ppl need to adopt monero) and then using that. It's cheap ($5~/m), fast, and effective. Plus, 5 devices with mobile compatibility. They have also been partnered with Mozilla and Malwarebytes since 2019.

Thankfully I have never used Nord, this is the first time I read about the zero logs policy and data breach. Do you think that Express or Surf shark are safe? Been wanting to try them out, but keep forgetting, haha!
One thing I hate reading about is Proton's IP log issue with the French activist, proton has a really strict policy when it comes to user privacy, this IP issue happened because the swizz government send them a note asking for the information of the user. Sadly, ProtonMail can't deny requests when it comes from the government, specially when there's a legal investigation against them, they need to comply with the law...
Still, good option if you value your safety.
Personally I would recommend against it. Though they are part of the BVI - therefore self-governered and do not need to comply with data retention laws - they still have their own issues. Surfshark does not support IPv6 sadly... and ExpressVPN, well this article explains it.

Out of those two, I would recommend SurfShark and just disable v6 on the device. It is pretty cheap but mullvad still takes the cake imo and is also pretty darn inexpensive.
As for Proton, for sure. I completely agree and can't deny they need to comply with the law. I just said beware of connections outside of tor. The data was recorded because they connected via clearnet and exposed themselves. That's on them lol. I fully support proton and their products. They even said what should've been done to prevent it.

But, the ONLY VPN host I've used that has consistently high speeds and low latency is Cyberghost. No idea what their policies are on privacy, but being that I've used every single popular VPN provider out there, I can honestly say there's no better then Cyberghost..

Im surprised to see that someone here recommended Mullvad , honestly, I see you're trying to explain to them what does Mullvad offer, but you need to understand that most of the people here are problably just not very familiar with things like that, the best deal for them is probably the most shiny one, if it works it's good. They mostly use VPN not to get "online KO" when being a keyboard warrior and because its cool, also netflix hulu bla bla, few cases of them just think nobody can find them while being hidden.
If they don't care to do any actuall research about the service they are using, they are probably just fine with the most shiny option.
