Best way to get players?

Hey all,

So I have created many servers in my time and never really opened any (mostly sold them to other people). I was wondering what is the best way to get players as my experience most Youtubers that put trailers up etc only do it for the money as that's all the seem to upload.

Another thing which is interesting to me is how to get the players to stick around after they have joined.

first of all research your own goal, is it money, is it good feeling? What you need to get is good player base. This basically means you will focus only on things you're interested in and won't change the whole network compare to what's the trend now. If you're doing minigame server, create your own minigames that will specify your server. Just don't stick with other servers, they'll still choose the less buggy and technically better servers with more features, that they like. This can be related to anything you want to create. In those days, you need to motivate players to play on your server and preferably you don't want them to leave, just because you can't fix bugs.

An additional part of the statistics -> reward the best players to motivate others.

The second side could be (as you said) trilers, youtubers, livestreams, giveaways. This is the more expensive side compare to what's above. But if you have no other choice, and you're not trying to make your server original, just stick with this.

When you're doing minecraft network, and you're doing it good, the players will stay, otherwise they'll continue playing on other servers that in their heads are better.

In my experience, when you want ONLY to get a lot of money for selling minecraft VIPs and MVPs and I don't even know what else, don't do it, it won't happen, you will most likely be in hard loss of money.

As I said above, the best ways to get players is to make something original. Something that's not on the other servers. Something that in the future will be typical for your network. If you want really good player base, just don't do minigames that are already made. This means, don't just copy hypixel minigames, because you want to play them on your network.

Try some server list sites, they actually got my server the boost it needed to start growing. It's also pretty good because you can encourage players to vote for your server with rewards or something, because it will bring you further up the list, giving you more players, because they will see it on one of the top pages. Also, try investing in some adverts/sponsorships on those types of sites, then it will get a lot of players, leading to some buying things from your server store, therefore making the money back from the cost of the advert.
