Mick, get a better system admin. There has already been over 6 "maintenance"'s over the past 2 hours. Sort your shit out, with your so called 'system admin'. I recommend you sort this out, before you start losing some of the player/view base on this site.

You really have something against the current system Administrator.

He is a really mature person who only wants the best for this community and is trying to go about that. I've had some conversations with him and he truly has the community's best interests in mind.

Your negative attitude really doesn't help things, although I'm not sure whether that stems from actual jealousy from the fact that he doesn't have thousands of posts / reactions or just the desire to hate on the Staff team since the new changes were brought about.

You don't know what's going on behind the scenes, so you can't make statements like this.
For all you know, there could be an issue going on that any Sys Admin would be struggling with.

All that really needs to be said is that you don't know the full story of what's going on, so stop drawing conclusions and telling Mick to get a better "system admin" when your only real reason to get one is to "stop the downtime" which, for all you know, could be the case with any Sys Admin.
Of course, jealous users are going to disagree with me, but this System Admin is one of the most high quality members I have met in a long, long time on this site.

When you work for someone, sure it's nice to have good intentions and whatnot but if the service or work you're delivering is completely unacceptable and not functional and a business starts losing money, being "nice" isn't going to cut it.

Mistakes happen, no doubt. However I find it hard to believe this whole thing is "unfixable". So far no situation for me in my many years has been unfixable. There are many solutions to pretty much any issue. DDoS attack? Rotating IP's, using basic services such as Cloudflare, etc etc.

Based on the error the site is giving, I don't think this is a DDoS. It looks more like a misconfiguration of network and/or software. A DDoS attack would result in slow loading times eventually turning into errors. At the moment, it's just errors popping left and right with no lag or slow loading times at all.

Besides the bad system administrators, transparency really hasn't been a thing when it comes to these issues. I usually updated members on our twitter during downtime roughly telling them what the issue is. This hasn't been the case at all.[DOUBLEPOST=1483303833][/DOUBLEPOST]I honestly feel like the system administrator is sleeping right now. When errors start happening with one of my clients, I get an automated robot phone call. If I'm asleep, I wake up, get my laptop and fix the issue. I don't think this same system administrator has that dedication or skillset to put such systems in place.

MCM had it's issues when I was system admin, however I used to fix them within a matter of minutes. Guess this guy has business hours... lol

I'd simply advise you not to criticize his actual System Administration services unless you can compare your own with his or something along those lines.

You also said "Yes, sometimes things can happen and you don't know what you are doing," soo if you accept that that's the case, doesn't that mean you can forgive the mistakes that the current system admin has made (if they were even his fault to begin with). People are completely disregarding what he might have done to benefit the community and only focusing on what he might have done to 'hinder' it.

As for the refusal of assistance from Bosny, that's not for me to discuss. I'm sure Mick has his own reasons for not wanting assistance and it's probably better if we respect that. It does seem rather illogical to refuse assistance from somebody who specializes in that service, but you know a lot has happened between the two that could effect things.

I've conveyed my point of people (stupidly) prematurely judging (the wrong) things and that's what I mainly came to this thread to do, so I'll stop responding now. But if your problem is not knowing what's happening, request transparency and not a completely new sys. admin.
(The site is still lagging AF by the time i'm writing this).

The ratings speak for itsself, that a new system admin is needed/wanted for MCM. I mean would you really compare BeBosny's work ethic to the new system admin's work ethic? No. BeBosny, knew what he was doing when managing MCM he took the extensive tasks of having someone else monitor the site, and contacting him when needed if the site has been down for more than 3 minutes.( but i mean cutting down lemon trees is more important.) This shows that BeBosny really did what was best for the community and tried his best just to deliver the best to MCM.

(Would just like to thank Ajdin here, for the work he has done to MCM and wish him the best of luck in managing AnvilNode).[DOUBLEPOST=1483305220][/DOUBLEPOST]

A simple question to answer your post. Can you compare BeBosny's work ethic to the sys admin's work ethic?

At least post announcements of some sort via Twitter or a Discord group
MC-Market has way too large of a community for there to be random maintenances, even if they're only 10 minutes.

I believe that Mick is too young to be an Owner, if you disagree with me that's you're opinion, but realistically Ajdin is the right owner for the Marketplace, least he treats he users right and doesn't back chat majority of the comments that he doesn't like, Ajdin takes it on the chin and moves on. 15 Years of age is too young stick with enjoying your childhood, instead of getting your dad to pay your way into the big world, make a name for yourself, you're like Donald Trump "My father gave me a small loan of $1,000,000" You're basically like that...

If you don't like my comment disagree with me that's fine, I don't care, but I think Ajdin did an exceptional job for the time he was Owner, even though I didn't really know the guy. At least he can get maintenance done straight away instead of been down for 4-6 hours +, Like he said hes committed to the marketplace Mick Meh not so much.

Mick if you can replace Ajdin the way he lead this market then I will change my response, otherwise this how I feel.

Kind Regards,
Mack
I disagree with the premise that Mick is an unqualified owner solely because of his age, but I do agree that he is unqualified based on recent events:
  • The messy website move.
  • Hiring an incapable sysadmin and failing to find a replacement.
  • The immature decision to cut BeBosny off for god knows what reason.
  • The way he's "handled" all of this in silence.
  • Refusal to accept input from the community (yesterday, me and Ivain tried to discuss why removing the VPN blocker was a bad idea. Mick dismissed anything we had to say, claiming that the new ban evasion system was better, when it's clearly failing.)

This suggestion has been denied, as I'm sure you might have expected. I can assure you that the site is in better shape now than it has been in the past -- load times are faster and searching is faster. With the downtime that we have experienced, each time the problem is quickly diagnosed and handled, most of the attacks we get you wouldn't even notice. It is also worth mentioning that there is no other person that we'd be able to hire for a job like this, and we certainly don't want anyone from within the community, as they could (and have in the past) be a significant threat to the site's security themselves.

I'm also going to lock this suggestion, a final decision has been made and my mind won't be changed on this.
