Over the past couple of years cryptocurrency has become more and more popular. My proposal is that a popular cryptocurrency like “Bitcoin” is used as a payment option. Using cryptocurrency would also prevent chargebacks and Bitcoin is predicted to always increase, so why not? Let me know your thoughts.

Crypto is considered highly unstable at the moment (from my knowledge). I don't know, just some random fact I heard. I'm aware its always unstable.
I’m mainly talking about bitcoin. Bitcoin has never really crashed and it’s predicted to always increase. Also, it’s probably the most popular cryptocurrency.

Personally I feel like PayPal is just the way business gets done. Its secure and been trusted for way longer than BTC and is operated by people and not some anonymous source with no bank. Opening up to more payment methods would just make it more inconvenient because that BTC at some point will need to get converted over to real money via PayPal, so why go through the trouble.

In my opinion PayPal can be extremely unreliable sometimes, they can limit you for no reason and put your account on hold for up to 180 days even if you have a fully verified business pp, there support is garbage. I’m just sayin that some people prefer to use btc because of PayPal issues and it would be more convenient for those people. Thanks for your response.

Whilst I love BTC, I don't think it's the way to go for a legit marketplace. If anything it makes it easier to scam to some extent since you can't chargeback if you've been scammed. BTC isn't all that stable either from my experience and whilst BTC ATMs and stuff exist it still isn't all that easy to withdraw BTC to your bank or cash

I would totally switch to Bitcoin if it would be used more.
At the moment everybody uses PayPal but it just sucks - limitations, chargebacks, scams and sometimes problems with paying etc.
BTC works all the time but the value of Bitcoin can always change, however BTC is the future!

-1 I don't think we should add cryptocurrency support for some time, I would be fine with other payment options such as Stripe, Venmo, etc... but it's just not the time.

If I buy something while it's at 10k and btc drops to 8k, that money loses value.

uhm what?

LzcXsVGT.png

this (quite beginner-friendly) chart shows that bitcoin crashes from 10k to 5k in march which is like half of its original price.

this may be easier for the community (maybe), but it's incredibly volatile and definitely not a good idea for mick and the rest of the staff who are getting paid. you have to convert it back into USD in order to get it into your bank which is an added step and not very helpful for the seller.

true.

sorry, -1 not because it isn't easier, but for various reasons stated above.
Can't argue with most of those points, pretty solid ones. For the community, I'd love to see bitcoin adoption as I don't use paypal nearly as much. However, I see you did bring up mick and the staff, when you talk about them I assume you talk about bitcoin as an payment gateway to ex. purchasing ranks, ads and such? Because that wouldn't be a problem using one of the many bitcoin payment processors which lets you instantly convert the money to USD; and have it directly transfered to your bank account. One of the most used payment processor which allowes this is, bitpay. For sure bitpay isn't the best paymeny processor as it does for example require you to use a supported client, but its good enough.

-1 I don't think we should add cryptocurrency support for some time, I would be fine with other payment options such as Stripe, Venmo, etc... but it's just not the time.

(Assuming you're talking about the community, because I've already covered bitcoin as a payment option for ex. ranks, in the text above. If this isn't the case, nevermind.)
There truly wont ever be a "perfect time", venmo limits the market to the US, stripe requires you to register a business, which isnt optimal for the community.

Some people are forgetting that BTC is optional and won't be forced, meaning you can still have the freedom of using PayPal. It's just opening up to more options because people are honestly annoyed with PayPal and their chargeback and closing of accounts and ect.

I think people continue to forget about the customer. If they buy a resource and it turns out to not function as intended or whatever reason they come up with, then there's not much they can do but leave a review to warn others.

Bitcoin is, and will be, highly unstable. The only reason it has it value, in my opinion, is because of the kids thinking they can get rich and invest in it. Next to that, at least up until all of the bitcoin has been mined the value of BTC will be volatile and a risky investment. If people lose interest in bitcoin, the value is gone. Due to actual currency being heavily regulated, it is and will be a safer bet for any trading platform.

Next to that it's tied to tax evasion & criminal activities so there will be more regulations at some point. Known or not. So it will become just as much as a pain to deal with.

People here can't even avoid scams when using paypal, let alone if they use a currency known for it's anonymity. Even though paypal can be a pain, it offers protection both ways.
