I have been interested in the whole Bitcoin investing talk. Could anyone explain to me how and where I would start to be able to invest?

First thing, you need a wallet, I use Jaxx.

I recommend starting with Coinbase. It is by far the easiest to use and offers a way to buy bitcoin off of the platform.

1 bitcoin costs about 9k-10k about now

About 11k atm, but ye blockchain would be the best wallet for the guy to use.
