You can go with a VPS from OVH 2gb ram 20gb ssd for like $3.35/mo and install pterodactyl and not have to worry about a host stealing files (not saying any will but there is a chance if you go with a not so trusted company they may). Id honestly just do the VPS and install ptero.

You can use a VPS but using a hosting service like NodexHost you won't have to worry about installation, maintenance etc.

Maintenance isnt much if you set up your VPS correctly in the beginning, and some people install ptero for like $1 - $2
