So recently my brother dropped our PS3 on the floor (small fall) and now it doesn't work.

We can plug it in and the power light turns on (red) but if we hit the button to turn it on, it turns on for a bit then shuts back off. It only turns on for about 1-3 seconds before dying.

Anyone have any idea how to fix? Tried to find a solution online but couldn't find anything useful.

Thanks!

Kiss it goodbye and never let your brother carry anything heavier than 10 pounds ever again.

But for real take it to a repair shop. Don't try to perform an operation with consoles if you have no experience.

Yeah, You'll probably need to buy a new ps3
I know that by trying to fix it manually, I'll probably just break it more but the repair will cost more then a used ps3 so I thought, why not (also, it's fun :p).

I'm looking for any real solutions to this problem, if any, that I can do at home with common household tools.

Before you try play around with it. You need to identify or at least narrow it down to the possible issues.

Use this website, it troubleshoots various issues encountered related to the ps3.

Hopefully this helps!

I understand its pretty expensive, but try just getting a ps4. Now only can you play ps4 games, you can also play your old PS3 games. Also, costs for repair can get really high if the damage is big.

I actually do have a PS4 but I prefer the PS3 because it has BO2.
From what you said, there's backwards compatibility!?

Sorry I was thinking of other consoles. I don't think there is backwards compatibility. But Ill keep looking for an answer for you on your ps3 :)[DOUBLEPOST=1486999327][/DOUBLEPOST]Try this:

1. Unplug the power cord from the ps3
2. Hold the power button for 30 seconds.
3. Plug the cord back in and turn it on

I just saw this somewhere XD
