Hi. I have a bit of an issue and I need some advice.

I went to a BTC exchanger (Very reputable) and they said, for $174 PayPal I can receive about $150ish BTC. A bit high of a few but I don’t really bother.

He explicitly tells me that you need to send it via PayPal Balance and to send a Gyazo of me sending it via Balance. Gyazo is a screenshot tool right? That’s it? Wrong. I was on my MacBook so I didn’t feel that installing something would be the worth the time so I go straight to Imgur and upload a screenshot. Sent the money.

Oh lord, here we go. I get a message 2 minutes later saying “Refunded. I only accept Gyazo”, and that’s because he wants a GIF. I’m new here, I only thought he wanted a screenshot, not an entire GIF. So the payment is refunded, and of course, there’s a clearing day. The payment will take multiple days to refund! It’s currently March 26th. I could wait that long, but errr. So he calls PayPal, and they say nothing can be done. He calls his bank, nothing can be done. Boohoo for me. I sent this guy validly money and due to me not understanding he wanted a GIF, I have to wait days for a refund.

Oh but that’s not all. I checked this morning and now the refund is on March 29th. I can’t get a loan because I’m so non reputable. What do I do? Needed this urgently.

You can try and charge it via credit card, other than that you'll probably have to wait =/

No no, that’s not the issue. I don’t really like adding a bunch of cards to PayPal, call me crazy but you never know when your account gets hacked. I have one dedicated account for PayPal and online purposes. I only use my credit card to build my credit.

Well you'll have to wait then I guess, I don't think anyone's going to give you a loan here.

Maybe if I prove I’m getting a refund possibly

You may have good intentions not to scam, but many exchangers now want a gif or video of you sending the payment to reduce their risk when dealing with fraudulent chargebacks and refunds. I get its a hassle, and it sucks in your scenario, there's just little exchangers like I and others can do unless PayPal makes their platform better for sellers.

Ah yeah, I know for security purposes now. I actually bought one batch of BTC before this, about $100 worth. Didn't need a GIF or a screenshot. That's why I just send him an image because I didn't even know Gyazo did GIF's at the time. I was trying to buy my brother an account for his birthday, and vacation is coming soon which just makes this such a stab in the back.

Just buy cryptocurrencies through actual exchanges like binance or coinbase

First off all that's a pretty shitty rate. Hopefully you are able to work it out with him and if not open a scam report.
