Hi,

So this thread is going to be explaining why we charge more for a larger area, because some people don't understand why:

So a lot of my clients are confused why I would charge say $100 for an 100 x 100, and then $250 for a 200 x 200 (these prices are just random, but yes the second price is meant to be larger). You are in fact getting a deal here. A 200 x 200 is not just double an 100 x 100 area's blocks, but in fact a lot more.

Maths:
100 x 100 = 10,000
2 x 10,000 = 20,000

200 x 200 = 40,000

So theoretically, if my prices were set to the block you should be paying $400 not $250.

A builds price shouldn't be based upon the size, it's based upon the quality. If this is in reference to the one build you're selling for $320 or so currently, well I personally don't think it's worth much more than $200. Just to elaborate on why that it. Basically it has some beautifully done terraforming (seriously dude, nice work!), but as for the rest of the build, it wasn't 'that' amazing. You lacked detail, and the structures weren't as great as they should be for a $300-500 build. Lately I've been working with a great builder called glowfisch and he would be one of the few builders out there (as well as all the top guys like Hydraxus, and all those people who do the epic things you see on PMC) who is actually able to work at an hourly ratio (literally, people pay him $20usd/hour to build for them) and that's because he uses waaaaay more detail than most people, myself included.

I don't mean to go bashing your talents/builds, but I'm rather just saying that your actual "building" needs more work personally, although your terraforming is currently really nice.

Haha no it has nothing to do with that - my teams, and I'm sure most others, have their base prices around the size of the build. No, it doesn't all depend on the size but a large chunk of it does.

Pfft let's be real. The size of the build =/= the worth. There's a lot more to an amazing build than a size. Some people like big builds/spawns/hubs, some people like small ones. It's a matter of opinion and someone could price something higher or lower depending on what size they find most preferable.

I could make a 10,000x10,000 map in about 5 minutes (with worldmachine). It would not be worth a million dollars or whatever though, because it doesn't have "quality" or "detail" which is where value comes in.

Yes, but Xeron's team does have quality and detail which is why they set their prices like that.
I would disagree. The terraforming was great in their recent build posted here, but the build itself lacked detail, as in the main spawn area, and things like that. I'm no 'great masterful' builder, but even I could do something better (not by much, because like I said, I'm not great, but I could surely improve on it somewhat)

Keep in mind, that wasn't one of the teams builds - that's just one of the builders. I'm just helping them sell it ;)

Oh I figured it to all be a one man job, I mean I could do all of the stuff myself and at an equal or better level (though the terraforming would take a while, I am mostly a hand terraformer (so I usually only do really small things like little ridges etc), however I could get a similar result with VS). THe building ultimately is what is letting the build down. It lacks depth and detail. Sure it looks alright, but it's not quite at that "high high" level yet.

Ok well PM if you want to talk more about it (don't see why you'd want to though :p)

This thread has nothing to do with any pre made builds I'm selling, just for current and future clients and to help other people's clients understand stuff like this. Please stop derailing this thread.

Thanks.

I was more just stating my opinions on the subject at hand, that being the relation between builds, their value, and what defines their value, which I don't see how that is "rerailing this thread". But yeah sure, I guess we can gladly stop now :)

Haha this thread was designed for me and other people who base their base price of their size, and who have at least decent quality in their builds :p

Half of what you said was not really relevant to this thread I guess you could say but yeah ;) Let's keep on track now xD I wasn't really expecting comments on this thread anyways

Well good luck and keep it up. One piece of advise though: you said it was done by a team, and the main idea behind a team is to cover each others flaws. The terraforming in the recent build was great, the structures, not so much. Just a suggestion, but when that's the case, have someone else do the persons structures.
It's like in any company, each person has their job. Let the terraformers terraform, and let the structurers (is that a word? eh, it is now...) structure? I don't think that makes complete sense, but you get the idea. By having everyone only do what they're best at, you'll reap the best results and ultimately make more $$$, which is what it's all about amirite? ;)
