hey everyone, i need a little help with picking out a gaming laptop for myself and have a fairly high budget. you're probably thinking why i'm getting a gaming laptop instead of building a gaming pc and that's because i used to travel quite a lot and thinking of getting back into it, it would be much more convenient to carry around a laptop.

ive been looking at this one on amazon mainly because i love the clean look and i think the specs are semi decent? (make sure to let me know):

i will also need a good quality microphone however i don't want it to be too expensive.

i would absolutely love it if you guys could give me recommendations for a microphone i should get and possibly let me know if that laptop is good or not?

cheers.

What's your exact budget for both laptop and microphone combined?

Got a Legion 7i about a month ago with a 2070, i7-10750H and 32gb of ram. Well worth it only because I got a lenovo education discount + coupon code. If you can find any of their legion models cheaper than retail price, 100% worth getting.

Edit: Reason I'm not recommending the new 5i and 7i models coming out is because of the shortages and the price they'll be. Either you will not be able to lay your hands on one when they do come out, or the price will be insane.

buy a 3070 laptop u wont regret
If you can get your hands on one.

Literally all of them are disappearing off the shelves.

Including the ones where manufacturers have stuffed them in without any care for TDP or replaced 20 series GPUs with 30 series, which is just about the worst thing you can do *cough* razer.

i would say around £1300-£1400 for the laptop and possibly £50-£100 for the microphone
I personally bought a razer laptop, because I wanted it to look professional yet also good performance whise.
I don't know if you have the same mindset though

For the microphone, get any usb microphone that seems good and check some reviews on them.

Im not good with gaming laptops since for me personally I see them as overpriced, so I would suggest looking at LTT, one of their sub channels or another channel that looks at laptops. I would honestly look out for anything under a 5600x or a 10600k, since currently they are some of the best CPU's for price to peformance, as well as anything below a 3060ti. Anything better in the 1.3k-1.4k pricepoint should be good.

But for microphones, It can depend on what you want. For XLR, The best setup could be a AT2020 and a UM2 or UMC22 which would be good for 100, for USB I would suggest getting a Rode NT USB mini, yeti nano or the fifine k699. All the microphones here are condensor which does mean they would pick up some of your background noise if you have a loud home aswell as keyboard mouse and clicks. If you want something that mainly pickup your voice I would suggest getting a samson q2u which is dynamic, meaning it will only pickup sounds in front of its capsule (the part you are ment to speak into) and when your not speaking, it can start picking up background noise. But it won't be as prominant.

Bought my nephew the Razer Blade Stelph a few months ago, he seems to enjoy it. High pressure games isn't the best on it but it's pretty stable :)

Blue microphones out of the box aren't the best, if you got a blue microphone I would suggest immediately downloading its software to tune it so it can make your voice sound more professional(this can take anywhere from 20 mins to 40 mins to tune properly, but the settings are remembered by the computer whenever you plug it back in). I will say its quite a weight to carry though if you travel a lot. Just make sure you set the polar pattern to cardoid and tune from there, it sound look like a love heart with it curving in at the back.

Also if you are recording your voice for something like YouTube or going to stream, pick up a little pop filter, not the big one that you can put infront but the foam one that goes over your microphone, it can stop the plosives when you say any words beggining with p, b or c.

I am pretty horrible with hardware but Alienware never disappoints. As for the mic probably get something attached to a headset so its more portable, but the quality will be quite a bit worse then compared to like a blue yeti.

Honestly, don't get a laptop. Get a PC instead.

Its hinges will break in under a year.
