Can someone explain how Domains are setup and how they work?

Hello my name is Vaxes and I am soon to be releasing a 1.7-1.8 Factions server and I am wondering how you setup Domains and which Domain Website I should be using. Also if possible try link some cheap Domains, and is there any specific domain I need like .net/.com/.org/.us/.eu and Would it work for my Minecraft server??

Domains often just points to a IP.
So technically yes you can use whatever domain you want and point your domain to your Minecraft servers, there are a lot of cheap domain sellers.
I would recommend GoDaddy!

I would recommend namecheap as well since it's a minecraft server most people tend to save money and just use .us which costs $0.88 in which will save you some money. If you want to go the extra step you can get a .net domain as well.

For a free domain like .tk yes they will wait until you get enough for good ad revenue for paid they can't do that. I think you should've elaborated on that since they offer free and paid domains.

Of course that scenario only works if you're making ad revenue

no that scenario works when your domain gets any sort of traffic, my domain "therift.tk" had about 30 people a day visit and it got marked as premium TAKEN OFF ME and used to display ads.
