Server price all depends on what the server is offereing. The more plugins, custom plugins, exclusive builds, graphics included, playerbase, past donations all make a difference in value of a server. I'd suggest you do a little more research before buying a server considering you have no experience with plugins, or servers in general. But a plugin is basically an add on tics server to change a game feature of minecraft. Whether it's a command like /afk or /ban or if it's bigger like adding pets into the game and anyone can make a server like survival games but I'd suggest you make a plan first. Then think of ideas to make your server different from the rest. Then contact someone possibly on the developer section of MCM to help guide you in creating your first server. All around it isn't that difficult but keep in mind owning a server can be expensive. To build a decent server from scratch it'll cost minimum $100-300. It'll also cost you to host a server monthly. Which can range from $1 to hundreds of dollars. But if you want enough ram they usually start at $30 a month.[DOUBLEPOST=1491655875][/DOUBLEPOST]If you need anymore info feel free to ask

How much is it to buy a server?
How do I start off?
What are plugins?
How do I create my own survival games?
If you don't know these, you should probably not start a server. 99% of new servers will fail.

We all start somewhere!

Hey NinjaGo, I looked at this thread earlier, but since no one seems to be answering your core questions, and I'm stuck in a car for a few hours, I'll give it my best shot.

I'll start with your first questions, the money part. This depends on if you wanna start for scratch, building up your own brand and creating it yourself, or if you'd are looking to purchase something pre-made, or maybe even a server that already has a player base.

I'd most definitely suggest the first option, as going into an already established server or even setup could be overwhelming, players would complain when you can't fix things since you don't know how because you didn't set it up. Learning about servers isn't hard, but when your just starting off, it'd be better to learn as you go along, rather than being thrown into the ownership position somewhere.
Besides, buying a server with a player base is very expensive. 10-20 player base server you run you up to the hundreds of dollars depending on the setup. Getting a premade from someone like Luigical or Zeiyon or n0tzach would be a cheaper option, running from 2-10 dollars depending on the server, but then there's the fact that you don't have the experience to fix things when stuff goes wrong.
If you start your own server from scratch, although it might take some time and a lot of learning, you'll be able to teach yourself how to configure plugins and fix issues because you know exactly how it is setup.

For your second questions, starting off, that can be the difficult part. As for starting the creation of your server and everything, finding a guide online on how to install and run spigot would do a much better job than I can. Spigot is the system that most everybody uses to run their servers. Once you have it setup and your server configured to your liking, whether that be by yourself or by a premade, or a cheaper setup guy like Van, you'll need to find a host. Hosts are companies that typically charge a monthly fee so that they can keep your server up 24/7 for you! It's not too expensive, either. I'm not a server owner myself, but I'd recommend you stay away from overpriced traps like mcprohosting, there are plenty of good hosting companies that have reps here on mcm! Although I've never used them, TigerNode is one that comes to mind, but do your own searching to find ones that you might like, there's also a "hosting" section here on mcm, so check that out as well. Typically 2-3$ per gigabyte is a good price, and for just starting off 2 gigabytes would probably be plenty for whatever game mode you'd want to run. Now, here's the part everyone likes: making money. You can probably get by without an official website, but having an online donation store for your players would be ideal. If you're interested in a website, enjin is always a cheap and decent option, but Xenforo is the service everyone uses, but it is expensive. Back to the donation store, if you decide to have a website through enjin, I've found their built in store to be adequate, but the better but again more expensive option would be buycraft. There's also a new up and coming service called "Minecraft Market" (not related to this forum) that looks good, but I've personally never used it. Finally, you need to get your server out there! The simplistic way to go about this is puttin it on a few lists such as minecraftservers.org so that your players can vote for your server and get in game rewards! You should probably do your own research on what sites to use and how to set up rewards and such. Extra points if you get a logo and banner made, there's a graphics section here on mcm for that stuff. My colleague and I have both used for CrookedDesigns for our profile pictures, but is logos look really good too and he's a nice guy, so I can vouch for him. I've personally never had a banner made on here, but Melon is a someone I've heard good things about when it comes to animated banners.

Now for plugins, plugins are like mods but for your server. They add commands and can do pretty much anything. There's tons of free plugins out there that can be used to do a multitude of things. One of the essentials is, well, Essentials! This allows you to do a lot of things like setup a spawn area, kick mute and ban people, and many more useful things. Factions is a plugin, so is the Skywars you play, oh and that one server with that one feature, that's a plugin! Typically your server may have anywhere from 10-50 plugins. Plugins typically have configuration files so that you can change it to fit your server.

As for your final questions, Survival Games is a plugin that you can download and setup, and play!

But most of all, have fun yourself! A lot of us here might be owners and managers to make some money out of it, but when you're just starting off and learning, you probably aren't going to create anything that will get a lot of money. So learn and have some fun!

Wow, that was a lot to type on a phone.

Other people, please let me know if I've made any mistakes, I'm experienced but maybe not as much as others.

Edit: how could I forget Vexy when talking about premades!
