High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

1) Download "Server JAR" from the latest "Stable Release" from https://mcversions.net/ (https://s3.amazonaws.com/Minecraft.Download/versions/1.8.8/minecraft_server.1.8.8.jar)

2) Put it in a folder, and run it with "Java(TM) Platform SE binary"

It will close, and so:
3) Open eula.txt and change "eula=false" to "eula=true", save and close.

4) Run the .JAR again.

Now adays, the server comes with a GUI (I believe Spigot and other modded versions don't though).

5) You should see the GUI console, and the spawn will generate.

6) If there's no major errors, you should be able to connect on Minecraft by entering the IP as "localhost" or "127.0.0.1"

And oh look, 1 player online and only using 128MB of RAM. Even your Apple Watch could handle that (discounting the CPU).

I'd really suggest that you don't learn Java from minecraft plugin tutorials.

Learn Java from oracle's documentation or something else first, and once you grasp at least the basics, try to watch a few bukkit plugin videos. This approach will much better prepare you for making your own stuff in the future, since bukkit tutorials typically don't teach Java very well.
