Ayo, I've spent the entire night looking at budget gaming laptops to buy since I have no computers whatsoever, and I need a laptop right now.

Of course, a popular suggestion was Acer Nitro 5, I did some research to find it has terrible display and colour correction, and I want my laptop to be for overall usage, one of which will be for binging movies jajaja. Off the list it goes. Kappa

Next up, Asus TUF. It baffled me with how amazing it was, and it fit right into my budget. I loved the design on the back, had a sort of futuristic look that i fancy, and a RGB backlit keyboard??¿¿ *orgasmic noises*. But guess what? Out of stock. They have other variants available but the specs are less powerful than the other options on my list.

I looked around a bit at 'Best budget gaming laptop 2020' lists and videos and MSI GF63 was one of the popular ones that fit in my budget. It's pretty much perfect, however, out of stock. Which is disappointing because it had the best battery, display, and weight out of all 4 options. Although it has a one-tone backlit (red), that doesnt realltly matter. It had a nice back as well. But had to move it off the list regardless.

Finally, the laptop that's mostly in my favour at the moment, Asus F571GT. It has the specs, the weight, the display. What i dont like about it? the back looks pretty bland, the back cover of the Asus tuf is super sexy compared to this. (literally it)

Basically, by process of elimination from laptops that aren't available, I was able to narrow it down to two laptops.

- ASUS F571GT 15.6 INCH CORE I5 9TH GEN 8GB RAM 1TB HDD GAMING LAPTOP WITH GTX 1650 4GB GRAPHICS

- ASUS TUF FX505DD 15.6 INCH FHD IPS DISPLAY AMD RYZEN 5 8GB RAM 1TB HDD LAPTOP WITH GTX 1050 GRAPHICS (this is the low-end one, the high end which is unavailable is the DT variant with gtx 1650 and included 256gb ssd)

I just want what I could best out of a (around) 950 USD budget. Please drop some suggestions below if you have any, would appreciate. And no dont tell me to build a pc, thats not happening. I need a laptop more than i need a computer, for its portability mostly. Be quick with the suggestions because im planning to buy today

Thank you, respect to y'all computer nerds out there <3

Edit: I'll be ordering an external RAM and SSD card if necessary to upgrade to 16GB of RAM and a 128/256gb Nvme SSD (also lmk which would be better - a 128 or 256, taking price and performance into account)

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Both of those are kinda crap, this one has an Intel Core i7-9750H and 16GB Ram and an NVME SSD.

Yes its slightly over, but it'll faster than most laptops on the market.

I'll upgrade the laptop to a SSD storage and ofc order an extra ram card. I feel like an i5 is powerful enough? i won't be getting into too high end games like assassin's creed and all, im just gonna dwell among the mediocre ones like fortnite, minecraft, gta, etc

It'll be enough, but don't expect performance on games like Fortnite and GTA to be high.

I have an i5 on my spare laptop which I use for when I'm on the go, you can play games on it. Just set everything to low. Minecraft is fine on anything i3 5th gen+. Minecraft barely needs anything to run.

I dont think its possible to replace processors in laptops, right? If that's the case, I'm gonna have to move out of my 2 options and look for more. I contacted a guy from the store Im gonna buy from, he made a suggestion and it's got a i7, however price exceeds budget and goes up to like $1030, but it all depends on whether my dad's gonna pay for it since i dont have the kind of money for that lmao. It was just another variant of the MSI GF63 (one of my options on the thread but was cheaper, its out of stock too)
This was the laptop:

- MSI GF63 8RD i7-8750H, 8GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB HDD, GTX1050Ti 4GB GRAPHICS, WIN-10, BK 15.6 FHD IPS LAPTOP 88,000/-

Yes, you can replace processors in laptops. But its very hard. And there is a high chance you'll just break it.

That looks kinda good, but still - If you want to be running games like Fortnite an i7 is ideal.

This looks kinda good.

the specs are the same as the ASUS F571GT i mentioned on the thread other than an extended RAM and SSD storage? Also, I'm ordering from the local stores which don't seem to have an HP Omen at that price, nor does the amazon product ship to my place, sadly.

Btw i can have people at the store change the processor since that's possible because im having them upgrade it to a 256gb ssd and 16gb ram anyway?

Update:

Ok guys, im going to order the ASUS f571gt tomorrow (ASUS F571GT 15.6 INCH CORE I5 9TH GEN 8GB RAM 1TB HDD GAMING LAPTOP WITH GTX 1650 4GB GRAPHICS) and adding both a 8gb ram and 128gb ssd would cost an alright price, but considering the laptop itself is already above the budget, i might be able to afford. if that is the case, which is the more important component that i should buy over the other, and upgrade the other one later. I'm guessing the ram because an ssd will obviously process programs and data faster, however it wouldnt be the worst to have games run on a hdd for now, especially when i wont be running too high end games. 256gb is out of the question because it's way too high on the price, but im willing to upgrade to it later if that's necessary.

Questions
- which component upgrade is more important, specifically for gaming: 8gb to 16gb ram vs. no ssd to 128gb ssd (the less important will be upgraded to in the near future)

- what difference would it make to play games like Minecraft or fortnite on a 1tb hdd (no ssd) vs. 128gb ssd vs. 256gb ssd. (edit): if not running games, what would you generally run on a ssd storage?

would greatly appreciate your help, thanks a bunch!

SSD speeds up load times, it’s better for overall experience (I’m talking file transfers, browsing stuff, booting your laptop, etc.) but if you haven’t experienced an SSD it can wait, upgrade the ram for now since performance wise it can help you run more games. If the games you’re going to play won’t be demanding I really suggest an SSD tho, it was a life changing experience for me lol, but if you’re getting an SSD it’s best to not download stuff right away since you’ll be reinstalling windows on that.

I'd check out Lenova. Decent for gaming but if you're interested in only doing video and photo editing I'd use a mac. Lenova is better for everything else. Dell is a joke. Razer makes me die inside. GL

Currently $900. It's one of the better laptops in the price range.

I made an update post, I'm getting an ASUS F571GT. Honestly though, there are sooo much better options available but they're not available in our city. I'm not gonna order from sites abroad, but from a local store. If corona ended quicker, i could have a more better performing laptop for even cheaper of what I'm going with, but there's nothing i can do right now and i really need something to help me out with the boredom. These are the specs:
ASUS F571GT 15.6 INCH CORE I5 9TH GEN 8GB RAM 1TB HDD GAMING LAPTOP WITH GTX 1650 4GB GRAPHICS (will be upgraded to storage of 8gb ram and 128gb ssd)

I'd really appreciate if you guys could answer the questions I've shared on the update post too, thx

You should maybe get an hdd for that build and upgrade the ssd later on (in size), 16gb of ram is really worth it.

If you are paying more than $650 for that you are getting ripped off entirely. :I

I know :/ idk if i mentioned it earlier, but the deals in other cities are shocking. I was supposed to visit riyadh, saudi arabia this month but couldn't because of corona. They have a laptop with the best specs, and it's lower than my budget too. But I need something to keep me occupied, there's no better opportunity to start a hobby than now, and i need it for studies too. Nothing i can do honestly

Oh and guys, the store dude says there's no Windows Hello on it???¿¿¿¿:cry: The thumbnail on the website shows a windows hello prompt on the lock screen tho, why would this happen? it makes this decision 10 times harder instantly rip

Ay, seen this thread and instantly thought of my laptop, the MSI GF63 8RD, which I'm actually looking at and typing this reply on. It's deffo worth it, it's a beauty and works without any flaws. Let me know if you have any questions and I can answer them for you.
