I'm hosting minecraft servers on my dedicated server, but upon connection in-game, my visitors (and the server consoles) receive an error that the authentication servers can't be reached, disallowing anyone to actually connect and play. I've verified that said auth servers are online, and they are on tcp port 443 (which i've opened in my installation's ip-table). What is causing this problem, and how can we resolve it?
  • Using Java 8
  • OVH Host
  • using Debian

PebbleHost
High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

IP Tables are clean on OVH by default.
I've also successfully installed servers running Debian multiple times in the past.
Have you actually checked whether Mojang's Authentication Servers were ACTUALLY down at that time?

The auth servers were up the whole time when we tried to install it. :/

What makes you believe that this is an IP tables issue though?
oh i wasn't saying that it was exactly that but it'd be a connection from the server to mojang which isn't doing it's job..[DOUBLEPOST=1457639476][/DOUBLEPOST]config seems good, but would it be the java version?

Currently on this one:
Openjdk version "1.8.0_72-internal"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (build 1.8.0_72-internal-b15)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.72-b15, mixed mode)
