Hey creators,
On the 20th of January there was a coordinated carding bot attack against Tebex which resulted in 27 fraudulent transactions to purchase BuiltByBit resources. This was an incredibly complex attack spanning tens of thousands of IP addresses.
Tebex have invested in mitigation techniques that have stopped this attack, even with its extremely distributed nature. They have also implemented additional security measures and transaction checks to prevent this from happening again in the future.
As a result of this Tebex have proactively refunded all fraudulent transactions to prevent an influx of chargebacks and maintain good standing with our payment service providers (Visa, MasterCard, Amex, etc). This means that $842.01 has been refunded from 37 BuiltByBit creators' Tebex Wallets.
BuiltByBit prides ourselves on the trust we've built with our community through the full chargeback protection that we provide to creators. We take incidents like this very seriously, and although this incident technically falls outside the scope of our standard chargeback protection provided in collaboration with Tebex, we believe in standing by our creators. To ensure no creator is unfairly impacted, BuiltByBit will fully cover the loss and reimburse all affected creators in full. We're working to promptly restore the refunded amounts to each impacted creator's Tebex Wallet and they should be redeposited in the coming days.
Your security and success are at the heart of everything we do, and we'll keep working to ensure BuiltByBit remains a platform you can rely on. We're grateful for your continued support and will always strive to uphold the trust and security you expect from us.
If you have any questions please feel free to create a ticket onsite or ask in one of our creator channels.
Thanks everyone
Mick
