I believe that completely getting rid of "referral links" is a bit extreme considering a lot of times referral links give people incentives to share useful information and sites that they might not otherwise share. I think a fair and reasonable compromise would be people are able to post referral links however they must say next to it that it is a referral link and then must also give the regular link. This is a similar policy that is adopted on many large forums.
