Change the reputztion polity

Hi,

I would like to suggest to MCM to change the reputation polity, what I mean by that is that people are alot false negative-rep'ing people and its for some retarded reasons like 'Beeing rude' 'Not nice' blablabla, those reasons are idiotic and the report management should change this, also when someone is false reping you, he doesn't provide thread link so it's another reason that mcm should change that and fix this.

Simply changing things does not = fixing things, and there are already several reputation related suggestions open.

This suggestion thread doesn't seem to be offering anything productive.
Could you perhaps fix that?

For starters, if there was a rule on not being allowed to false neg rep users. Sure, that will still happen but when we report the false negative rep with proof, it's usually denied because "If someone has a negative opinion of you, and you wish to improve your reputation, it is your responsibility to improve their opinion of you and therefore your reputation via communication with the reputation author." I've reported a negative rep where user1 neg repped user2 because user2 wouldn't sell to user1. I've also reported 1 of mine but it was also denied because of the reason I listed in bold.

A rule against false negative repping?

What exactly makes reputation false in your eyes? Because we already remove false rep.
So obviously it's the definition of false that we use that you'd like changed.
What should it be changed to?
It's false if you don't agree with their statement or reasoning?

Like just telling lies. It's clearly false if it's lies; it's not an opinion if you're spreading lies about people, now is it? I mean, I guess the one where user1 neg repped a user because user2 wasn't selling things could be considered an opinion, however, mine wasn't and it was just lies but it was denied just because it was a negative reputation. I have one currently on me but I haven't reported it because I know it'll just get denied. Proof of it being nothing but lies can be found in the rep that the user did on me.

Edit: The only true part of the iLime neg rep is that I didn't accept a payment, the rest is nothing but lies and I proved it in the neg rep with the "add a comment" feature.

9.1 Do not give reputation which is not constructive and informative.

Lies are misinformative, the opposite of informative.
If a user is found to be lying in reputation, it's obviously in violation of rule 9.1, and the reputation will be removed and they will be warned.
So you're wishing for something that's already in place.

"I haven't reported it because I know it'll just get denied" is no excuse.
If you want our rules to be enforced, you should at least take the responsibility to report content that violates them.

So why would I report something that appeared to not be against the rules?
" 9.5 Do not abuse the reputation report system. This means you shall not attempt to report reputation unless it violates the above rules. " So explain, should I just ignore THAT one? If it was against the rules, please explain why when I proved this one user to be lying, it was denied just because it was a negative rep, hm?

Oh and, I've clearly told you that I have a negative rep right now that was false and I provided proof it was lies and what do you know, it's still there. Do we honestly really have to officially use the report button before things are taken care of, despite you obviously knowing that it's there? If it was truly against the rules, why is that not backed up with action? So far, I've seen that it is not against the rules to leave neg rep where users lie.

Clearly the moderator who handled it did not believe it to be in violation of our rules, and that's why rule 9.5 was quoted to you.

As for why I have not gone to check your reputation now, that is simple.
I don't support the idea of users running to suggestion threads to complain about their issues in order to get support.
There are people who have been waiting their turn patiently for support in our reports system and support requests forum. They deserve support before those who aren't even willing to put one into our official channels.
So yes, you really need to report it.

When I handle a report on reputation, and the proof provided isn't enough, I start a conversation with both the users to discuss the dispute and come to a conclusion between the three of us.
I can't tell you if the other mod that handled this got proof from the member who provided it.
If you're ever unsatisfied with the result of a report, you can always create a support request and ask for direct support.
If the staff member that handles your support request gives you a conclusion you're unsatisfied with, you can escalate it up to our administrator.
To put it simply, you aren't without options.
