Change this Behavior

I've noticed that this "maintenance" message appears to come up any time a user is denied access to something. I'm not sure whether this a bug in the system or whether this was intended, but whatever the reason, it should be modified. If a user is denied permission to something or can't access something, inform them of such. Don't mislead the user into thinking that something is happening when it's not. You only confuse the user.

All of our error pages need to be updated to be more informative instead of just giving a maintenance page.
It is indeed misleading, and wasting the opportunity to say something useful that the staff members will end up having to repeat in place of the should-have-been error page.

It's just something built into xenForo I believe. I guess it's reasonable, you should have no reason to need to contact them or anything.
