It's funny how the majority disagrees but doesn't give their input on this entire thread.

Another reason why ratings and polls shouldn't be encouraged as much in this section of the website. It doesn't contribute to the thread at all.
Hi,

So this is a thought I came up with recently.

We've been pushing out all these updates to focus on the marketplace concept of the website. Now, the updates themselves are not that bad. They are very good updates for a marketplace. However, we're missing one big thing here.

In my point of view MC-Market is about 30% marketplace and 70% general discussions. Even on the most serious marketplace threads you'll see a few people responding to them in a non-marketplaceish way.

I believe we all need to clear our minds and not try to force the forum into something it's not, a Marketplace.

Our userbase is the kind that prefers general discussions over dealing, that's why the general discussion sections are one of the most active ones. We should stop forcing a marketplace concept into all our minds as that will just drive users away from the site since it's not what they are interested in.

I have said this to staff before, MC-Market should work it's way to a more general forum instead a marketplace. Don't get me wrong, it should still be a marketplace but maybe it's time change priorities around to our users liking?

With the loss of the Accounts I think MC-Market should look into ways of expanding, getting a wider offering for the average internet user, be open to more stuff. This could be one of them.

High performance, consistent uptime and fast support. Minecraft hosting that just works.

Let's go enable thread advertising, then we'll make an exact copy of Leakforum's thread system.

Agreed, when general discussion got moved down to the bottom there were multiple people that didn't like it. That was a majority of this forum and now that subforum is kinda dead. Then accounts got removed. What now?

Do you have actual statistics on this? I don't think the marketing aspect is lower than general discussion in any way. There's other places for just discussion for the most part.
I don't need statistics. This is a fact you can acknowledge by browsing the website.

How can you admit that you are trying to force the site towards being more of a market when you take away the privilidge of advertising in the shoutbox?
I didn't take it away. I only voted towards it.

Does that not seem hypocritical to you in the slightest?
Not at all.

Taking away advertising does the exact opposite of pushing this towards a marketplace site(which is directly the opposite of your claim in the OP).
Doing so has only turned this site more into general discussion.
I honestly realised the fact that MC-Market should stop forcing concepts into users minds a while ago. Mick and tjrgg can confirm this as what I said in this thread above, I said a few weeks back in our chat.

Shoutbox was never intended to be a adbox. However, I might aswell admit that I'm in the wrong here, although my opinion on this thread stays.

We've been applying all these changes and so called "fixes" to turn up the marketplace aspect of the website while all it has been doing is digging us down.

Well I believe a good first step would be to return General Discussion back to the top of the homepage. A lot of people liked it better at the top and it was far more active. Reverting the reactions back to ratings could also help strengthen the community and stop all the current arguments floating around.

I agree, general discussion was my favorite thing but now it's been moved to the bottom. I think this site should become more focused on discussions as well as maybe expanding into more games in the future. This would allow more people to browse the site frequently. Right now I just use this site to discuss things, I don't even play minecraft.

Since the account market was disallowed on here I no longer sell things. I spend the majority of my time discussing things with other users. Bringing attention to discussions on the market could allow more users who can't sell their accounts to remain on this forum.

What fixes are you referencing to?
Splitting General Discussions and moving it to the bottom of the node list. - This is also something I approved which I highly regret at this point since it completely goes against what I said in my thread.

Making all 'reactions' neutral. Ratings are fun. Not sure why you'd try to kill them.
I was also against the idea of having ratings at all. However, I knew we couldn't do anything about it since it was here from the start and not many people really complained. Right now, ratings are bugged out and basically unreliable. People still care about them, they are just unreliable.

There are a bunch of small others which I can't think of.

The teamspeak server is a good example too. It was added by me back in August last year. The teamspeak only encourages General talk and banter. Technically, that goes against the entire concept of the forum.

I've been contradicting myself ever since I got promoted the first time. I think it's slowly time for MC-Market to change it's future path.

I mean these reactions are not that bad. It's just ratings were better. There are multiple polls that wish for things to be returned to normal. I just hope Rocket and the rest of the administration will listen to the community on this one and revert the unnecessary changes. It will not only stop all the current arguments but make the forums stable again. I mean the announcement thread itself has 85 disagrees. I don't see why they would keep it around knowing how many people don't accept it.

The problem with this: when we discussed some things inside the administration team we agreed on the fact that we will discuss any major changes with the community. In the past 3 months, we've been usually doing that very well until now. Not sure what happened.

What scares me more, is that the current staff team is against some of the changes from what I can see.[DOUBLEPOST=1457990503][/DOUBLEPOST]
I think the forums should just expand out of Minecraft and open up to new games and all different kinds of services, especially when all account selling is gone.
This is something I had planned out at a early Alpha stage. Several people were listening to my concepts in teamspeak. I have no clue who was there anymore but this is literally what I thought would be good for the future of MC-Market.

Keep the market aspect of the site and expand. Start competing with bigger forums like PMC and Minecraftforums.net.
From a business point of view, this is also great. It allows much more expanding of the forum and additions of new features which the community will worry less about as it won't affect the marketplace aspect of the site.

I mean if parts of the staff team don't even agree with this update why keep it? Users are already questioning the management of the site. If Rocket had simply asked the community about these changes we could have said no beforehand and prevented the drama that ensued.

I completely agree Ajdin - but we can't just go from "MC-Market" to a new name, it just wouldn't work.

My concept would also completely address this concern. I wanted make a thread about this soon but honestly don't see a point. Especially now that I resigned.[DOUBLEPOST=1457990843][/DOUBLEPOST]It's funny how the majority disagrees but doesn't give their input on this entire thread.
