Hello MC-Market,

As most people know a lot of people within the market that have done scams are known ban evaders.

My suggestion is to change the ban evading system so that people, as soon as (or 5 minutes later), will get the account banned from the site as soon as they make a new account rather that of waiting until they scam someone! It's a very annoying issue and problem that has been here ever since I signed up and I bet everyone can agree on this, IT NEEDS TO BE CHANGED!

(Basically I want the current system to have a more overviewing check of a new-user account instead just checking based on the ip-address [or however its checked right now]. )

If it were possible, I would agree with you. But it just isn’t technologically possible in terms of reliability and accuracy.
Any form of automation will lead to an excessive amount of false positives.

We use many data points to figure out ban evaders and each account can have different tells, but at the same time we’re not the NSA and can’t easily collect information about our users. You simply cannot trust anything automated to handle this task on a website like this.

To provide more clarity on why some data points are unreliable, I’ve explained in the past why we can’t solely rely on IPs here and why if it’s a different situation for different users: https://www.mc-market.org/threads/472296/#post-3843719

I have made some internal suggestions in the past which can assist moderators catching ban evaders, because we really do think this is a problem, but that’s something that is held up in our development queue as we prioritise Xenforo 2 migration at the moment.

Finally, you are always more than welcome to report a user or make a ticket to ask us to investigate a user if you have any concerns or suspicions. We are always more than willing to check.
