Chat Moderators/Moderators being able to delete SB messages.

Pretty much, I accidently posted a private screenshot of me talking to a business partner. I thought I was posting a thread. I asked thebaum64 delete but he said they cannot or not allowed to delete them. That just leaked my whole conversation. I know, "be more careful" but I don't always read what I type, (I know) But please, this just leaked a whole private project.

Maybe, figure out a way to make it so it only deletes it from members viewing it, where staff can, meanwhile keeping it in the Archive.

I have to agree, the shoutbox is the chat, and whats the point of a chat mod, if they cant delete chat messages? Why not just mod instead?

Yes, also staff can delete a certain message requested by someone with a good reason. For example: I post a private screenshot, I whisper a staff member to delete with the reason: "Private screenshot, not supposed to be seen" They delete. Everyone carrys on.

Yes - it would permanently remove the message from any sort of archives or history.
This was actually something I proposed and started working on when I was staff.

I'm not sure if this would be resource intensive but I suggest this system:

Chat moderators and moderators alike can remove a message from the view of regular members. However, they can still see it in the archives and while it is still present in the shoutbox itself. This would allow any malicious links, pornographic material or sensitive information to not be viewed by the general public while still keeping the shoutbox archives in tact.

The problem with this is that the way the addon currently deals with edits and deletes is that it leaves no history whatsoever.

I also don't want to modify the core of the addon as that means we'll have to modify it every single update. It's just a pain and not worth it.

On IRC servers you can't do it either.

Yeah, but then why have a chat moderator? Can't we just let normal users report and then the offender will get a consequence? Since mods cant edit or delete why even have them?

They hand out verbal warnings and actual warnings. You should have seen the shoutbox before chat moderators. They can also ban members.
