What’s up MCM fam. So, you read the title. If you think today’s Minecraft servers are fun, something is wrong with you. Minecraft was a whole different animal in it’s prime and I know there’s still some active players that remember the good times. There’s been so many attempts to bring back old school factions, classic prison, etc but I feel like nobody has really put in the effort to bring back the experience and expand on ideas from the past without adding features from the servers you see today. I want to create a classical prison server. If I make a profit then cool, but if not that’s okay. Everyone makes servers today and their reasoning behind it is simply to make money because they’ve seen the success other owner’s have had. That’s what this community is saturated with. I honestly love this game, but there is no experience nor community like I experienced from 2011 - 2014. I don’t feel like typing a whole essay about my thoughts on the minecraft community, but if you’d like to see this let me know down below.

I stopped a year ago because nothing was changing. Yes, newer content creators have jumped in but I don't feel the same way about the Dream team as I did when Team Crafted was around. That might be because I am a part of the older generation of players, who played actively from around 2012 - 2015 where I started losing interest, however, the Microsoft sale that took place in 2014 also helped influence that. The gradual death of Java and the increasing popularization has evolved Minecraft from a game shaped by its users to a game regulated under the terms of Microsoft. Was this to be expected after the sale? Yes, but as all good acquisitions go, things didn't change immediately.

Will classic-style Minecraft servers ever see a comeback? I think it's possible. If the big Bedrock players such as the Hive and Mineplex push classic gameplay into the younger audience, we could see a revival. However, the only way the truly bring back "classic" Minecraft is if Microsoft opened bedrock up to more people than EULA-compliant companies that have existed for a long time. Sure, you could open up a Java server, but both the 1.8 and 1.12 player base is gradually shrinking while the 1.17.1 player base is stagnant. Is this the death of Minecraft? No, Minecraft as a franchise will likely exist for decades. Heck, Microsoft themselves has publically mentioned that the company intends to make Minecraft a "100-year brand". And with the push for Minecraft Dungeons and Minecraft Earth, it seems like Microsoft's efforts are well underway.
