I think that you should be able to clear your name history once in like 3 months (MCM Previous names), maybe supreme only feature? BUT It only keeps your latest one (So if I changed my name right now, and cleared name history - it would keep that one)

Then you can ask that user + there latest name change would still display, allowing you to know who they are :)
