I recently went through a thread of mine and there were lots of replies from banned members, their signatures just take up space (both data and general space on the thread), since they're banned what's the point of keeping their signature content showing wherever those members posted in the past?

Agreed. One user had ultimate upon ban and they put like a whole thread in their sig.

Turn off signatures altogether. That's what I've done for 2+ years and I've never looked back. Saves data and the site is so much cleaner for it. I reckon I've saved at least 5gb+ in bandwidth by not downloading images.

While I agree a banned user's signature takes up unnecessary space, not that I noticed as I use mobile majority of the time, the information found in their signature (specific product or service, discord, server name, etc) is useful to connect a banned user to ban evaders on a new network. If we're removing signatures then threads, posts, and profile pictures may as well be deleted too as they also take up space; this has been suggested before, and I assume denied. Those can also be used to connect a banned user to ban evaders - not a smart one but still.

Perhaps just hiding - not deleting - signatures for the average user is fine but not staff who can use it as proof against someone as justification for banning a user.

Indeed. Properly deleting their signatures isn't ideal for this reason. Additionally, at the moment we aren't planning to do any more development for our site until we can migrate to XF2 since we'll have to rewrite everything then. Perhaps once we move to XF2 and have fixed all the bugs that come with that and have more time for some new development we can work on this, but for the moment this isn't something that we can justify the development for.

Denied, thank you for the suggestion.
