first off there're somethings called wolfram alpha, mathway.com, and the internet
but if you want an explanation
lots of ppl say 2
you think you are using PEMDAS
but dont forget
MD and AS are interchangeable, it's whichever one comes first
so you solve parentheses, which gives you 12.
right?
you can do the rest
yeah that's right it's 288
ass is nice

p.s. for you autists
48/2 x 12 = 24 x 12 = 288.

2nd gr math guys seriously

pplz sebzcyyrybe and dislyek or hev dizlixic auertasts filluw u

bush did 9/22 no hatr

Please. Stop posting new threads for this argument, you should just keep to the original thread.
so many people on that thread explained it but people are still being stupid. Calls for a new thread

Not trying to argue, because our arguments last forever. Just what I noticed.

Since you did the parentheses first, it seems that you were using PEMDAS, from there, you can't really just switch from PEMDAS to traditional. That means that you must continue with PEMDAS. Although the M comes first, with PEMDAS, the rule is left to right, at least in the US. The M and the D may be interchangeable, but you would still do it from left to right, as they have the same priority. Therefore, you would divide 48 by 2 first, getting 24, multiplying it be 12, and getting 288, just as Boy said.

Math may be open to interpretation in middle to highschool, but if you interpret it differently after that you'll simply fail the course. Because if mathematics were open to interpretation that way, no form of mathematics-based science would be reliable.
