Hello, MC-M

This is happening. Donald Trump is going to be president of the United States.

And there’s no way around it: What he’s planning to do looks like an absolute disaster for the planet (and the people on it). Specifically, all the fragile but important progress the world has made on global warming over the past eight years is now in danger of being blown up.

Trump has been crystal clear about his environmental plans. Much of the media never wanted to bring it up, never wanted to ask about it in debates, never wanted to turn their addled attention away from Hillary Clinton’s email servers to discuss what a Trump presidency might mean for climate change. But the warning signs were there:

  • Trump called global warming a Chinese hoax. He couldn’t have been blunter about this. He also tapped Myron Ebell, an avowed climate denier, to head his EPA transition team.
  • Trump has said, straight up, he wants to scrap all the major regulations that President Obama painstakingly put in place to reduce US carbon dioxide emissions, including the Clean Power Plan. With Republicans now controlling Congress, this is perfectly doable. Just pass a bill preventing the EPA from regulating CO2. Done.
  • Trump has even hinted he wants to get rid of the EPA entirely. “What they do is a disgrace,” he has said. Again, if Congress follows, he’d have the power to get rid of other regulations on mercury pollution, on ozone, on coal ash, and more.
  • Trump has said he wants to repeal all federal spending on clean energy, including R&D for wind, solar, nuclear power, and electric vehicles.
  • Trump has said he wants to pull the United States out of the Paris climate deal. There’s nothing stopping him there, either. (Technically, the US can’t officially withdraw for four years, but for all practical purposes, the Trump administration could ignore it.)
So what happens if Trump gets his way? More air pollution, more carbon emissions. Exactly how much more remains to be seen. There are, after all, plenty of other factors pushing down US emissions that Trump has no control over. Natural gas from fracking would continue to kill coal power. Wind and solar would continue to grow. But it’s nearly impossible to imagine emissions under Trump falling at the sharp pace needed to slow global warming.

I take no responsibility for this, got it from http://www.vox.com/2016/11/9/13571318/donald-trump-disaster-climate. Just wanted to share.

From an environmental standpoint, Hillary would have been far better. Hillary agknowlaged the problem, and laid out what she would do to work towards fixing global warming. Trump called it a hoax and promised to work backwards everything that Obama has done to better the environment for future generations. And with an entirly republican government, this is totally possible.

I have nothing to say on obama care, or for that matter many of Trump's policies. I do not know all the facts in those areas.

What I do know that if trump follows throuh on what he has said about climate change, then he could single-handedly doom our generation. If he was to pull the USA from the paris deal, then china, india, and other large CO2 producers would likley step back or pull out also. I believe Trump is more interested in amasing wealth for himself and his old white buddies, then dying before climate change becomes an issue.

I hope that some people veto some of his things because if all this goes through I will be moving to another country.

By 2017 (1.5 months), there will be basically nothing stopping him. With full republican control of congress and the white house, he can do what he wants. Moving to another country will not save you from climate change.

I have to go to bed, good night/morning/evening/whatever...
